Evening by Evening: The Devotions of Charles Spurgeon Paperback – October 5, 2010

I picked this up as a companion to Jim Reimann's update of Spurgeon's "Morning by Morning". I find that together, they are a great way to bookend your day, encouraging you to focus on the truths in the Bible and walk them out. However, I think either of them can be used at any point in the day, alone or together. The modern language & Jim Reimann's commentary makes Spurgeon's messages even more accessible. His love of the Lord and spiritual take on living an authentic Christ-centered life in most places still feels ageless and relevant. In the few instances where some Spurgeon's ideas might have been limited by access to more accurate commentaries or versions of the Bible, Jim Reimann's commentary helps clarify things.Often, the passages shared are a great jumping off point for further study. Altogether, I highly recommend this resource for daily devotionals.

What a way to end your day. Spurgeon's words are always filled with rich spiritual insight. This updated version makes for clear understanding. This edition edited by Jim Reimann is an added bonus, for his concluding remarks each day are simply a wonderful addition. I am always challenged and encouraged by the writings of these two men.

This is the best read ever. And whether you are found or lost going through the motions, there is hope in this book. Because there’s hope in the word of God. Read and be blessed.

This book is excellent in every way except that I prefer to read the author in his own writing style unedited. This would include references to biblical quotes in the King James Version that the author uses in the original. Who could imagine changing Shakespeare? Part of a writer's message is his unique writing style. Reimann's summaries are insightful and useful. This is the place to do any expanding of the original text, but please respect the author's own wording.

Spurgeon's books are always GREAT Books for my library!!! Amazon Books are BEST!!!!!!

This devotional book is wonderfully written and each devotions always points us to God. I recommend it as your next devotional book to use each day.

The condition of the book very good, the content very inspirational, written by a giant patriarch of the faith. Spurgeon is so able to rightly divide the word.

Not finished reading this yet, but I love it very much so. Definitely not one to zip through. I like to pass over to my bible when I read Spurgeon as he gives many many great scripture referances w/ exegesis that draw you back to meditate on in your Bible. Spurgeon is fantastic that way. Just drives it home to your heart.
