Larger than expected.

Ok, I like it, I really do, but I have some gripes. Color 4 is not in the slightest red as the seller's picture shows. You can see that from my image but I forgot to take a picture of it BEFORE I began to dye the dang thing and I'm really sorry about that. I was in "Must fix before weekend" mode and I just didn't think. The color is very much Halloween orange and black and I'm hoping dying it with synthetic fiber dye works. I don't know what it's made of but it can't possibly be a natural fiber. My money is on polyester, but I honestly have no clue. The color is really the only true big issue I have with it.As for fit, which I was REALLY worried about, I'm a 2x top, 3x bottom (22pants depending on the cut) and I ordered up because... well that's just what us big girls do when we order online isn't it? I can make it work, but I should have ordered a 3x. I put it on without engaging the zipper because I just didn't realize it even had a zipper, so there's plenty of stretch. I tried it on with a skirt and a petticoat (a crinoline would be more comfortable imo) and had plenty of room. I'm glad it's not too small. Sometimes we run into Asian sizes when trying to find things like this and you wind up wasting money. This is not the case.The bow in the back is not at all a bow. It's two bits of fabric folded over and sewn in a manner that allows the flaps of the bow to fold over themselves. It does however, emphasize the bustle effect I guess. Historically, bustles are garments that were worn with dresses, designed to make the butt look bigger, not a style of skirt as we know them today. So that's not a problem, it just looks like a bow in the seller picture. If you want it to be a bow, you gotta do a little sewing.Speaking of sewing, I washed it as per the instructions on my fabric dye and I already had to sew one of the buttons back on. Again, no not a big deal, it's just something to be aware of. I'm wearing this to a mystery dinner, maybe a convention later. If you're a cosplayer and intend to be at a con all day or a fair and you're moving or carrying things or maybe have a corset or belts on over it, then you're gonna want to reinforce those buttons.The structure of the dress is sound, it's heavy but that's because there's multiple layers and ruffles along the back. It is not put together like cheap costume skirts, you just might need to adjust it a little to get the best experience out of it. All in all I'm satisfied mostly, but I am glad I didn't spend more for it than I did.

I bought this in February for Halloween 2018, for my Steampunk Costume. I start early on my costumes so that I may avoid any wardrobe issues in October, such as the one this skirt presents. Upon removal of the package it looked exactly as described... so I waited until late March to try it on. Some of you know what I mean when I say, I waited until after I lost all my 2017 holiday weight. Hindsight being 20/20, not the best idea. Long story longer I did not try on the skirt right away. By the time I did it was much too late to return. The bow on the back is not a bow. The photo is accurate but mine was sewn crooked so it didn't hang quite like the photo. I was forced to remove it and fix it myself. Unfortunately I have no pictures but buyer beware! Inspect your skirt and try it on immediately after purchase. Beyond the crooked stitching on the faux bow, the skirt is fantastic: and I would have given it 5 stars were it not for the shoddy workmanship.UPDATE 01/31/19: I purchased another Large, Black & White stripped skirt in June 2018 and it was flawless the second time around. I was glad I tried again because it was perfect for my Halloween, Steampunk costume. The pictures don't really do it justice nor are they great photos but my costume looked fantastic and camera ready. The material is polyester, sturdy, lightweight and comfortable. There is a concealed zipper down the left side but I didn't use it because the back stretches quite a bit. Most of the decorative bow in the back was covered by the corset I was wearing, so I didn't get any photos. The skirt appears a lot fuller because I am wearing a Victorian Steampunk underskirt, as well as Fleece Lined Leggings. I adjusted the length as high as it could possibly go. The back of the skirt goes to the floor. I am wearing three-inch-high heeled boots. I am 5"3" and 140 lbs at the time the photo was taken. The skirt was quite loose on me, however with the blouse tucked in, the Fleece leggings and the additional Victorian Steampunk underskirt, the outer skirt fit just right. Go a size up if you are going to add additional clothing as I did. With the exception of the boots, everything I am wearing I purchased through Amazon, and have listed them below. I would highly recommend this product if you're looking for a Victorian/Gothic/Pirate/Steampunk/ skirt. Could not be more happy with this purchase!I purchased this skirt to go with a costume and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it fit.I'm a pretty curvy gal!Waist - 34"Pooch - 39"Hips - 42"Height - 5'2"Weight - 143I ordered the size M.The quality of the skirt is pretty fantastic! My only complaint would be that the strings that the front of the dress is drawn up with, continue to loosen threads that have to be trimmed off. So far, everything is staying intact ... the threads from the fabric come loose ... not the stitching. The stitching is strong!The bow in the back lays kind of wonky, so I pinned the two bow loops in place so that they lay flat. The only problem with that is, my belt covers them up a bit but I prefer that look better than the bow collapsing and not looking right.The fit around my waist was perfect. The grand, elastic back on the skirt allows for my curvy shape to be hugged perfectly. There is a side zipper that makes stepping in and out of the skirt so much easier although before I discovered there was a zipper, I was able to get the skirt up over my hips ... with a little effort.It's comfortable! That's a big plus when I'm dressed in costume and I have to wear it all day.There are no cleaning instructions anywhere on the skirt so I took a gamble and washed it AND ... put it in the dryer. It washed up beautifully however, I needed to iron the skirt in places because the cotton ruffles and bow get wrinkled.Overall a great buy.

This is a beautiful yet light skirt, perfect for steampunk! I ordered a 4x and it’s a rather big on me, so it’ll be comfortable to wear out to all day events. I won’t worry about seams breaking open or stretching the pattern out of shape.I’m very pleased with this skirt and I could have probably ordered the 3x and have it fit fine, it’s very forgiving.

I am surprised that the 2x is a little big for me. But I love it. The stripes look more like a dark gray than black....But it is a costume for a wedding so I am not bothered by it. Thank you.....I love it!!
