Not as advertised.
I spent the summer taking 3D video on my new Sony TD10 3D camcorder all over Europe with the hope of returning, editing, and burning it all as a 3D blu-ray disc for my family, friends and myself to enjoy on our 3D televisions. I chose Sony Vegas 11 Pro for the editing software... taking to heart Sony's claim that it was "easy", "intuitive" and "powerful". I knew I would have to go through a learning curve before I could effectively use this software, but I was unprepared for how incredibly complicated it would be for a complete novice to understand. Before I got my install disc from Amazon I installed the free version of Vegas Pro 11 on one of my 6 computers at home... giving it a brief try-out and finding it seemed to work as advertised... at first. Sometimes the features worked, then sometimes they didn't. I would close out a test project, come back later and try to do the exact same thing with the same video and the features I used before would not work??? When I got my install disc I installed it on my new computer I bought with only movie editing in mind - i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, 2 terabytes of memory, blu-ray burner, etc.. Right off I had to reinstall the software 2 times before I gave up that it was not working as advertised... most of the time (it also crashed my computer a number of times). Again, I could import 3D video clips only to have Vegas Pro not recognize them as 3D... except, a few times the software did operate as advertised and recognize them, with all the features working as outlined in the instructions (and instructional videos I found on the web) - only to have a new project started later where the same features would not work. Crazy! Then I paid $30 to buy the manual...hoping there would be more detailed step-by-step instructions (NOT!). And now, I can't get the software to perform as advertised at all... a waste of time and money. Anyway, if you are not a computer nerd and don't enjoy endless hours of surfing for answers from those who revel in computer geek-speak... don't expect this software to be easy. And don't expect step-by-step instructions that are comprehensive (what instructions are included are basic and leave you in the dark if something doesn't work as they say). I still hope that somehow I will gain enough knowledge to figure out if I'm doing something wrong... or if this software is just crud. I only hope I live long enough for that to happen. So, my advice? Go back to college, get a degree in movie editing and then buy this software... only then might you find it "easy, powerful and intuitive". Or, maybe not.

Worth The Price, Especially For HD
We shoot videos in HD and SD and usually just use Windows MovieMaker that comes with most (all?) PC's (but doesn't do HD), since we are just hobbyists and, to be honest, didn't want to learn some complicated editing software fiasco. But...this was a fairly easy learning curve and provided HD editing and SO many more options that we had before. Great software (and I hate, and stopped buying Sony products!), but am glad I did this time.

Not Worth The Money
I had bought this product for my birthday because I love videomaking. I got it and it was extremely buggy everytime I try to edit something it freezes and says not responding. For the money I paid for it I was very disappointed I just ended up getting vegas pro 12 from the sony creative software site. I don't recommend this product.

Great Software
Best version of Sony Vegas I have used yet! Only error it gives me is crashing but it supports many layers so I would recommend this product to any video editor with basic experience. It can be challenging to learn so it may be hard for beginners.

Just learning, but happy to have Vegas Pro 11
I'm just starting out with Vegas Pro 11. I had some problems with my computer, but after getting my computer fixed, everything went well. Now, I'm off to the races with my SciFi film called Chalk.Kevin

He's a Vegas Pro Fan
My husband has been using Vegas Pro for many many years. The 2006 computer he had it on finally went to Sony heaven and he needed a new program able to be used on Windows 7 OS so I bought the Vegas Pro 11.0. My husband writes a lot of music, plays all the instruments, and produces the finished product on CDs/DVDs. For him, this system is the bomb! He has not encountered any crash problems (knock on wood)as others have noted. But to be fair, he has not used all the features of this program yet. He looks forward to another six + years of using Vegas Pro 11.0.
