Great fun!
This is the first book of string games by this author I believe. Basic setups and simple games are explained very clearly. I already have two followup books and am looking forward to more complex games. I can make up my own stories to go along with the string figures. So much fun and different.

Good Illustrations, history
String games can be difficult to illustrate, but this book does a good job at explaining and illustrating how to make the string figures. Also, it includes short histories about which cultures the string games originated in.

Excellent book for helping time pass
My mom first bought this book when I and my siblings were quite young. We would use it to pass time in restaurants, receptions, long car rides, etc. It is a fun, quiet way to keep kids occupied. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. I can still do a lot of the patterns from memory. All you need is a bit of string and you are set!

Good book for older kids
Love this book. I had it as a child and all the way until a year ago when a work colleague borrowed it and never returned it. Easy steps to follow, but wish there was more.
