Q: Is this in metric scale?

It has scale in cm/mm. And the angles are in 360deg. But the big problem with this one that one might not notice when buying is that it has the azimuth scale mirrored (not something one would normally expect). One might think that the "Mirrored" in the description means it has the mirror.

Q: the description says kilometers but the picture is in miles. which one is it?

My compass is marked in kilometers (km). It does come with 2 accompanying scale cards, though, with one being miles scales. Or you can multiply km by .62 to convert to miles.
