Great while it lasted
This worked great while it lasted. I was using this new sander for the first time after about 20 minutes of non continuous use it started to slow down. I was sanding some plywood and not putting any downward pressure on it as I did not want to sand through the veneer. I first lightly sanded 4 small blocks of wood 1 1/2 x 7, then switched from bench mount to hand held to sand two pieces of plywood 2 foot x 4 foot. I finished sanding one and removed from my bench. I then put the other piece of plywood on the bench, picked up the sander and started sanding it. After I got about 1/4 of the second piece of plywood I noticed that the sander was slowing considerably I immediately stopped the sander and noticed smoke coming from the motor. I let it cool down tried to use it again and it was dead. I requested a refund.

Good Enough for me
I liked it well enough. I would suggest anyone looking look at other options and decide for yourself. This is good. It is sturdy. If you said "I looked at them all and I think i want to buy this one." I would tell you "Go for it".If i had to buy another one. I would really have to think hard. Its good enough for what i need. I would have to do a market review before shopping this one again. Not to say I wouldn't buy it again. Just saying i would have to think it through. It is comfortable enough to use, not great. It is powerful. It does have variable speed. It is rugged enough. A few bits of plastic something with a screw came flying out of it at one point. Don't know where they came from, but it doesn't seem to stop it from working.

Versatile belt sander
I really like this belt sander. It is heavy but reasonably well balanced. Easy to change and align belts so long as you're careful and don't crank the adjustments too hard. Works great, but what I really like is how it mounts upside down or on its side to be used as a bench sander. It fits across a standard 2x4 if you clamp on both sides as intended, allowing it to be mounted to the I-beam of a saw horse. You can also clamp it across only one side if you use the provided slot in the back and one across the front handle. Lies pretty flush. The supplied rectangular clamps are better for this purpose than the standard round ones on other models. Makes me wonder why all belt sanders aren't made similarly. The variable speed feature completes the deal.Dust collector is just okay. When mounted, this works fine with a vacuum system. If it lasts this will be a favorite.

Table top and belt sander all in one.
I bought this unit just for the fact that it can be flip on the back and use as table sander. I already own Roybi and Ridgid sanders but they both have its own problems with belt broke off and steel plate loosing and can’t be use on its back as table top sander. This unit does the job on two machines and it’s convenient for my workers to take to job site for small trim works. We mainly use it for sanding down 3/4 maple plywood edges as finish shelves and this does the job quickly and effectively. The dust collection bag is a good side benefit but you still get dusty when in use. Don’t expect much out of dust collector as it will just get on your shits anyway. It’s pretty sturdy on its back without any sort of clamp (not recommend) for quick sanding but unit gets noisy compared to Roybi belt sander. Overall I am pretty satisfied with this unit.

Did not last long.
I bought this sander to smooth out some Perota wood that I had planed down to a rough dimension. First use of the sander it works fine. Initially my only issue was that it appears to be a left handed design. If you're a righty like me then the dust exhaust blows right into your pants pockets. If you're a lefty it will blow out into the room. I didn't try it with the bag but then I'd have to keep the sander far enough away that the bag didn't hit me. So a great feature if you're a lefty. The fact that you can turn it upside down and set it on your work bench, then move the wood on top of the sander is really neat too. I was doing small pieces and did not even need to use the supplied clips. After about an hour of non-consecutive use the problem began. The sanding belt would start working its way too far inside the sander. One edge of the belt would hit the plastic and start melting the plastic as it ran against it. I noticed the pieces of plastic showing up on my wood and changed the belt. I tried adjusting the tracking knob but every new belt insisted on riding too far in. Looking at it I think the back (drive) roller has gotten out of alignment (see photo.) I expect there is just too much plastic in this thing and once it got too hot the body that held things in the right place failed. It is now useless. If you never sand for more than a couple of minutes it would probably be a neat little sander.

A pretty good sander with ok customer service
First Review: I had used the sander for about an hour when I needed to change the belt. Upon flipping the lever to remove the belt, a large piece of plastic fell out of the unit near the front roller. I couldn't figure out where it came from, so I took photos of it and sent it to their customer service. It's been 7 days now and they have yet to answer my question about what to do with the piece or if I need to return it. I wish I had never bought the thing. Hence I'm giving it 1 star.Second Review: I thought I should give an update on their customer service. It took a while, but they finally just sent me a brand new sander and did not request I send the old one back. The new one has worked quite well and I'm happy with it. Hence, I'm bumping my review up to a 3.

Great design horrible motor
The design is great, I was extremely impressed with that feature, since the sander I has to replace is no longer available. Used it once.....was not abusing the tool, but it started running slower and then the smoke and a very sad aroma, I own a considerable amount tools necessary for my trade, I think this one holds the record for least amount of use before dying! The company contacted me after I submitted my review and they sent me a new one, I am impressed with that. Hoping for better results with this one, will gladly sing their praises if it runs well!
