Made of LDPE, works great for vegetable garden
If you are growing an organic vegetable garden and want a drip line, Toro drip lines are probably your best bet, at least based on what I could find out from a couple of days of internet research. The drip lines are not rated as "drinking water safe" but at least Toro tells you what it is made of -- low density polyethylene (LDPE), which is plastic #4 and is considered "low hazard" as far as plastic goes, and with carbon black as a UV stabilizer. Rain Bird just says their drip line is "high quality resin", which in today's world means it's not high quality, and who knows what's in it. Some plastics I would not use in my garden, and if I don't know what it is, I avoid it.Anyway, LDPE is much better than the material in most hoses and soaker hoses, which can contain significant amounts of lead (Pb) as a stabilizer that will leach into the water. These Toro hoses are a bit stiff, but not too stiff to bend into most garden-sized shapes (see photo of U-bend). I really like them and they feel high-quality.The emitters themselves seem to put out water at a constant rate, regardless of whether they are at the beginning or end of a run. They are much better than soaker hoses I've seen in operation. My longest run is only 30 feet though. Also, if you're worried about the emitters being too far apart at 18" like I was, they seem to work well anyway. Since they soak the soil slowly, the water spreads out and most of the soil in my beds is damp after 30 minutes or so (see photo)In case you're a drip irrigation newbie like me, here is what I ended up buying to install this in my garden:- Toro 53756 Blue Stripe Drip Water Source Installation Kit (to attach to your hose or outdoor faucet)- Toro 53704 Blue Stripe Drip 1/2-Inch Tee Sprinkler (to make T-connections)- Fiskars 9124 Professional Bypass Pruning Shears (to cut the hose, instead of the equally expensive specialty cutters)- Toro 53719 Blue Stripe Drip 1/2-Inch Hose, 50-Feet (to distribute water where you don't want to actually emit it)- Toro 53703 Blue Stripe Drip 1/2-Inch Elbow Sprinkler (for 90 degree connections)- Toro 53620 Blue Stripe Drip 1/2-Inch Tie-Down Stakes Sprinkler , Pack of 10 (I didn't need very many of these. I think I used 30 of them for about 150 feet of drip line)These other items I bought were optional, but make it easy to run multiple drip lines and control them individually, as well as filter the water and quickly connect/disconnect your hose from this system:- 4 way hose connector: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UNCB4GY- Toro 53701 Blue Stripe Drip 1/2-Inch Hose Swivel (to put on the outputs of the 4-way adapter)- Claber 8983 Garden Hose To Accessory Quick Connector Set- Garden hose filter (for chloramines, as my city water has): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007I6MN72I've attached some pictures of my setup to help you get the idea.

works great
I've bought this hose in the past and have used it with no issues so I bought more using Amazon Prime - much easier than driving to an irrigation specialty store 40 miles from home.
