Great size for hard-to-fit spaces
Bought this for my father who is renovating his kitchen. We had a lot of difficulty finding the right size for a pre-existing space. This microwave is perfect. Works wonderfully, very stylish and makes good use of its size and space requirements.

A big fat zero! Parts Availability and Customer Service/Outsourced parts distribution!
If I could give this item a zero I would! I built a new house and foolishly picked the upgraded appliances. The initially installed microwave lasted 14 months....(Warranty expired after 12 and you guessed it, Kitchen aid would not honor the warranty!!!)Had to order a new one since I bought the double oven and this as a set... The oven fan broke after 15 months!!!.So back to the 2nd new microwave... The turn table plate cracked during use, (did not drop it!!!) It's warranty is only 30 days!!!Getting the part has been an exercise from hell... Part on back order from China since Jan. it's now end of March.!!! But look on the bright side.... the microwave can't break again if we can't use it!!!! I would give customer service a zero rating too since their out sourced parts distribution was absolutely no help and didn't care how long I had to wait to use the thing.....

UGLY TOP AND SIDES - Looks like it should be built-in, not exposed!
This unit got mixed reviews on performance, but mine never even got plugged in - so I can't speak on that aspect. My rating is on appearance alone. I know a lot of people reading this may not care too much about the overall appearance, but if you do, I hope this info is helpful.I ordered this microwave because it's the match to my KitchenAid Oven and Refrigerator. It's replacing an old solid-black LG microwave that finally bit the dust. I was a little happy to see it fail, so I could finally justify buying the matching microwave to my other new(ish) KitchenAid appliances. So YES - it matches - and the "FACE" of it is sleek and beautiful (and probably the best-looking design, in my opinion, of all I saw throughout my whole search) - but I ended up returning it anyway - simply because I hated the way the sides and top look.A lot of stainless microwaves have black sides and tops (and door fronts and key pads) with just a stainless trim on the face of the unit. I guess that is what I was expecting - though I honestly didn't know - as there were no pictures of the sides or top anywhere online. I was not sure I was going to like the two-toned effect, (because I've been used to a solid black microwave that blended in and faded away on top my dark countertops) ... but I also feared - if it came all stainless - that it may stand out like a sore thumb ... but if that was how it came, I figured I would get used to it, and at least the appliances would all match.Well the sides are neither black nor a pretty brushed stainless steel like the front trim. The sides and top of this unit are just made of some silver-looking metal that quite honestly to me - looks like it should be a built-in - not left exposed! It also has some molded protruding patterns in the surface, that look quite utilitarian (not decorative) - and screws (or whatever) exposed as well - so it was downright ugly and cheap-looking. And this unit is far from cheap. My last microwave had kind of a fingerprint-proof solid black texture which looked FAR better than this! My husband didn't want me to get this microwave due to the cost, but caved per my request, so he was expecting some fancy-schmancy-looking thing - and when he saw it, he was shocked, thinking for the money, they really paid no attention to the aesthetics of the sides!I am very disappointed but it was a complete deal-breaker for me. Too bad they missed the mark! If you're buying a trim kit, and building it in, go for it! ... but if it's gonna just sit out exposed, be forewarned. (I should have taken photos to post - but we re-boxed it immediately for return.) : (

Microwave not working and one must wait 10 days for them to even review it!!!!!
We bought this in July 2014 and it's now December and it's having issues. As others have mentioned, we have the issue of it not turning off when the door is shut. Off to call customer service and hopefully get a replacement.

Mind of its own
Works fine when it works but sometimes when I close the door (when I've removed the food and now its empty) the lightstays on and the turntable rotates. It seems to stay on forever... after awhile I open the door to stop itand then have to leave the door open so it doesn't turn back on when I close the door. Its not cooking (I've triedplacing food in it and after a few minutes it doesn't heat so Im assuming the microwave power is not on). Very strange. It does this about half the time whenever I close the door. I looked in the manual to see if perhaps its an automatic settingto cool itself down or something but there's nothing in the manual and it happens so randomly (i.e. it did it the first time out of the box after I put it on my counter...) I think it just has some screwy wiring.. Oh well. Think I will return it and try something else.

Kitchenaid Microwave
This microwave meets my expectations. The open door button sticks somewhat and I'm hoping that over time it will "loosen" up a bit. Other that that I'm very satisfied.
