Buying / installing obsolete Cisco gear is like collecting Pontiacs, it is ok if you know what you're doing or learning it.
Older Cisco devices are considered "dangerous" by some since the lack of manufacturers support and age can be a risk factor when installed in a mission critical business like an MRI clinic and they're also unsuitable for NASA or the local fire department.But a small law firm or restaurant is just fine as long as the equipment is professionally installed and can still be implemented with fail over in case a router fails or the switch burns out.The same professional would likely discourage installing an obsolete Cisco device as an Internet perimeter and it is worthy advice.Your particular needs may vary, but there is a huge secondary market for selling and servicing Cisco gear and that will never change.You could drive old Pontiac's as long as you have a good mechanic and remain handy and occasionally patient during malfunctions, and save a ton of cash.

Works as expected.
Works as expected. I used this in my home router lab. I plugged it into my c2801 router and connected to a c1841 router via DTE/DCE cross connect cable from monoprice. Configure line speed and encapsulation and all is well, routing over this serial "T1" line, without any other equipment (a CSU/DSU would be required if going over an actual telco line instead of crossover cable).

good serial port
This is an excellent low cost serial port for your CCNA 2600 and 3600 series router. I prefer to work on real equipment even if it is a little older than the current equipment in modern enterprises. You get to use the actual Cisco commands via command line and see how the equipment responds and is great for troubleshooting.
