Product Description This selector system allows easy, one-time connection of DVD players, video games, camcorders, and more. For TVs not equipped with an A/V jack, this RF modulator is a must for connecting your equipment. From the Manufacturer Recoton's DVD647 RF Modulator is ideal for TVs not equipped with an A/V jack. It's used for connecting a DVD player, video game system, camcorder, or other A/V component that does not have an RF (coaxial) output to a TV that only has an RF input. It also features an RF input for connection of a cable TV signal or antenna signal.

Simple setup, good performance
If you have an older television set without RCA-type audio/visual inputs (antenna or RF signal connectors only), this device is a simple, economical way to connect it to a DVD player, A/V receiver or home theater system. Other methods - such as using a VCR as a buffer connection - generally result in problems caused by the VCR's copy-protection system that will make the end output unwatchable - i.e., out-of-sync "scrambled" video and severe brightness fluctuations. Setup with this RF Modulator is very easy. Just connect your DVD player's (or home theater's) RCA-type cables to the color-coded terminals on the unit, then connect the RF modulator to your television using a standard RF coaxial ("VCR") cable. Finally, select channel 3 or 4 on the unit to match your preferred television VHS input channel, and you're ready to watch! I feel this RF modulator offers very good value for its reasonable price. (Note: if you have a very old television with antenna screw-terminals only, you may need to purchase an additional 75-to-300 ohm matching transformer.)

Another Amazon return
Cheapest, lowest quality product that I ever bought from Amazon. This RF Modulator is made to connect a device like a DVD or Blue Ray player to a television that only has a cable connection on the back of it. When I was screwing the cable connector onto the back of this modulator, the stud that you screw the cable connector onto fell off in my hand. The whole thing was large, and quite cheap in appearance and feel. Another Amazon return.

Fantastic Buy
If you want to use a DVD player with an older TV that doesn't have an AV jack, then you'll probably need one of these modulators. I recently had to replace my old RF modulator. I decided to purchase this brand and model because it was the most inexpensive one I could find. Admittedly, I was a bit worried that it wouldn't work for my TV or that it would break easily. Fortunately, I had no problems hooking it up to my DVD. Several months later I'm still using it and am very pleased with my purchase. This modulator is a great buy -- highly recommended.

Nothing on TV
I have found the Recoton Modulator to work fine.Last time I had to stay at this one hotel for over a week due to work I just couldn't find much to worth watching on tv. So for the next trip I decided to bring a DVD player to hook up to their tv. Luckily I didn't buy a DVD player with an old coax hookup, but found out about modulators. I tried it out at home and it worked great. I brought it along with me the next time I had to stay at that hotel and was able to watch DVDs I brought along.

Does What It's Suppose To.
Just what you need if your TV is older and lacks the RCA type audio video inputs. If plugged into a DVD player, it senses when the power to the player is off and passes the RF signal through to the TV from the cable. If the power to the DVD is turned on, it powers up and outputs the DVD player's signal to the TV. A really good buy if all you need is to input a DVD or any other video/audio source to a TV that doesn't have anything but RF style cable inputs.

Worked for a short while, but not long.
Worked out of the box but then channels got noisy when there was no DVD input. Then the DVD signal through the unit got all snowy. All in all the unit did not reliably do anything it was intended to do. I am replacing it with the RCA CRF910 RCA CRF910 Auto Switching RF Modulator with Gold - Plated Connectors, Coaxial and S-Video Input . I have an RCA in another location that works great. I tried to save a couple bucks on this unit, that was a big mistake.

Did what it said
It's been awhile since I used this product, generally speaking RF mods aren't really necessary for most televisions any more. I didn't have any problems with this product it, it did exactly what it needed to do. I used it to hook up a playstation 2 to an older tv that didn't have a RCA cord input and it worked perfectly.

TO MAKE AN OLDER TV BETTER
The item worked just great. Our TV is about 15 years old and we received a New VCR-DVD and it would not work withthe TV. But the RECOTON DVD647 RF MODULATOR was just what we needed in order to keep the VCR. I would definitelyrecommend this product to others that has an older TV set.
