A solid, good mid grade woofer
You could argue a 5 star rating by value if U don't need top $ expense performance. That said I have built speakers for over 30 years now, so I can vouch for the Ds175's as very versatile & competitive for this price level. They work well ported or sealed. They can be used as a woofer in many 3 way (TMW) systems, in auto spkr door pods, or even as a compact sub. I made use of them in a main tower pair for home theater use. Each box has 2 ported ds175's +1 sealed, all electronically crossed matched with a mid and tweeter. They are just as good as many woofers in name brand speakers around $850 a pair and below. Many people like replacing blown woofers with the ds175's (which is fine)- if you understand matching up the proper opening & box volume? They were great for my DIY, ground up custom speaker build. They are no thumping megawatt beast but they're a solid performing woofer with clean extension, tight bass accuracy, refined quality sound, and they can work great in properly matched multi woofer set up.

Works excellent in the Klipsch Promedia 2.1
I also used this woofer to replace the old one in my Klipsch Promedia 2.1 A few things to mention. You have to splice a new terminal connector onto the (+) lead of the wire. The replacement woofer takes 5 screws instead of 4. I borrowed a screw from the backplate and put a non tapping screw in its spot. I have to keep the sub woofer level lower than usual since replacing the original. This woofer sounds awesome and i'm happy I bought this over the GRS woofer due to someone else review. On a side note I also replaced the mid range with Tang Band W3-881SJ 3" Drivers which also made a huge improvement.

Great sound
I used these to replace a worn out set of woofers in an old pair of Sony bookshelf speakers. They were a perfect fit for the 5.75” opening in the enclosures. I’d like to give thanks to Parts Express for listing all of the physical dimensions of the speakers on their website. It made choosing the correct size woofer very easy. The woofers themselves sound great. The bass is tight and deep in these enclosures. I only had to drill new holes for the woofer mounting screws since the old woofers used four screws and these use five. It only took a few minutes to complete the installation. Overall I am very happy with them.

Clean tight bass!
Dayton Audio puts a smile on my face! This designer series 8 ohm woofer is matched with the designer series passive radiator. Powered by a 3 channel 200 watt class D Bluetooth amplifier also purchased from Amazon. The system in these pictures is a one of a kind as far as I know. The subwoofer is built almost entirely of Spruce logs with a 2.5 inch thick Burl base, walnut baffle. The inside is completely coated with epoxy resin. The upper piece is made from a Spruce log, walnut, Cherry wood, and Red Oak. It has 4 TB 3 inch high performance full range drivers. Running a 20 volt power supply it produces smooth accurate sound. Just needs some grills for subwoofer and black screws.Living in a semi remote part of Alaska in can take weeks to get things here from Amazon. Especially in the winter months, we plan ahead when possible.

Un-freakin-believable!
Bought this as a replacement for a Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 subwoofer as someone else had done. So glad I read that review because the Klipsch cone has nothing on this Dayton. Little 6.5" sub can shake the whole house.I got curious and tried it in another cabinet as a mid/woofer and again it was very impressive. You cant find a better speaker at 4x the price.

klipsch promedia 2.1
i bought this woofer to replace my klipsch promedia 2.1 woofer . SOUNDS GREAT ! you will need a total of 5 screws 4 from the stock woofer your replacing and 1 from your junk drawer or you could buy 1 or 5 new ones from a hardware store. the conection terminals is tricky cause the positive fits but the negative wont without modification. you will also need to make new screw holes as they dont line up.1- you will not be disappointed with this woofer as a replacement for the klipsch promedia 2.1 system.2- you will not be disappointed with this woofer so long as its powered properly and mounted in an appropriate sized enclosure
