Works great if you place it correctly
I bought the 5 pack and decided to place 2 of them. The first I placed alongside our driveway in a group of trees near the road. When you walk the driveway you always get attacked by biting flies swarming your head and trying to land and bite you. The second I placed up by my barn where I see flies flying around. The one by the driveway after just 1 week had a good 4" of dead flies inside, and a swarm of live flies inside and swarming around it. You couldn't approach within 10 feet of the trap because of how many flies where in the area. By the third week this trap was practically full. The other trap however never caught more than 20 or 30 flies, so I moved it down near the woods about 200 feet away from the other trap. It instantly started filling up with thousands of flies, and in another 2 weeks was full. These traps absolutely attract and trap flies, but only if you find a good area to hang the trap. If you aren't catching much then move the trap somewhere else. I am now on my next 2 traps and I put them both back in my 2 good locations, but this time they aren't building up nearly as fast. I think it's because I caught so many the first time combined with the fact the weather is cooler than it was with the first set of traps. I can now walk down my driveway without having to swat flies away from my head constantly.Update: The second 2 traps have been in place over a month and they have caught almost nothing. I believe the first 2 traps wiped the flys out from the area and there just aren't any left. I certainly don't remember the last time a fly swarmed around my head trying to bite me. Very happy with my purchase.

5 acres so we can do that easily. Last year we almost turned to another product ...
Been using them for years. We buy them by the case. Each spring and summer we cycle thru 2 of them every 3 weeks or so. They do their job! But smell absolutely horrendous so they have to be kept far away from anything you spend time near. We live on 4.5 acres so we can do that easily. Last year we almost turned to another product as time and again we were getting defective bags - the plastic bag would separate from the top after hanging up for just a day. They aren't cheap so we wasted a good amount of money, but this year so far no problems.

Work so well that the UN may accuse you Genocide (fly).
I remembered how well these worked in Afghanistan so I picked them up for my own backyard. Second summer in a row using them, absolutely love them. Bag fills to the brim in about 2-3 weeks. Generally swap them out when the maggots start to form. Definitely worth the price if you want a fly free backyard for the summer. In fact they work so well I need to get the city to send some money my way since I'm sure I've keep the nearby park and tennis courts free of flies. Only caution for purchasers is to be aware of where you put it as it does emit a pretty rancid (flies love it) smell. Can always tell when the wind shifts.

Quality Control Problems - leaking bags.
It saddens me to write this negative review on this product. I have been using this fly trap for many, many years, (in fact I was able to talk to the inventor when this product first was available on Amazon) as my purchase record will plainly show. This year I ordered a new supply of traps and I need to report that there are a couple of quality issues. First being that the traps (3 out of 5) leak as the seals on the bottom and lower sides are not well done. Second, the red top does not always snap in place and on one of the traps I was only to get 1 of 4 snaps to work. This is/was a great product and over the years has made our forest home fly free. We have a large place next to the forest and flies are a major problem requiring me to set up several traps around the acreage. I have given these traps to my friends here and they also have purchased them from Amazon. These traps are not inexpensive but were worth the extra price as they worked much better in catching flies than the others that I have tested.I can only hope that the quality control efforts are re-doubled and the production issues are corrected.

Works extremely well, but use it properly!
I use these near the trash corrals at my restaurants. During summer, flies hatch and occasionally sneak in with a customer, making it look like we have flies in the place!! Yuck!No more. These traps cut the fly population so much that we just don't see them anymore except in the trap! Brilliant device without toxins! They create a rotten meat odor. Don't put them upwind! Don't put them inside or near your door! And when filled, tie them up in a plastic bag so the contents don't leak out!But use this properly and it's amazing how effective they are!

A well-made trap, excellent quality, but the bait did not work for me
This is, by far, the best fly trap I have ever seen but the bait attracted almost no flies, even after months, in a variety of locations. When I bought a different fly bait and added it to the traps, they caught innumerable flies. It's a pity that the included bait is so ineffective but given the price, I only tried these traps because of the unconditional guarantee of satisfaction and true to their word, when I asked for a refund, it was promptly issued, no questions asked. Perhaps this bait would work on other kinds of flies, or in other locations, or it may be worth it just for the traps because again, I have never seen any traps this well made. They are larger than most fly traps, and include a high-quality cord for hanging, which is already attached. All you need to do is fill with water and hang it up. Every other fly trap I've ever bought required me to find a cord or wire hanger to hang them and most of them also require you to very carefully cut them open. These traps are much easier to set up and with such outstanding customer service, well worth a try.
