Great for Folks With Disabilities
I have Lupus, and suffer from the growing loss of mobility in all of my limbs. I love to cook, but have struggled to continue using my expensive cookware because it is now too heavy for me to safely manage.I have agonized over this development and had feared that I would be forced to replace my cookware with really thin (light and cheap) aluminum pots and pans. If so, I knew I would be giving up a lot of cooking flexibility and the quality I had learned to rely on and love.At least, I thought that until Rachael Ray put out her imaginative cooking line! Not only does this five-quart oval saute cook like a dream, it weighs about half of what my other cookware does, has that great helper handle to lift it and serve the contents, and cleans easier than ANY pan that I own at any price. As a result, I can continue to do what I love -- cooking -- despite my illness! When you're disabled, you have to give up a lot of things that had been meaningful in your life, not to mention independence. I applaud ANY product that is disabled-compatible.In reading the reviews for this great pan, I hadn't noticed anyone raving about its weight. For folks like me, that's a really huge deal. Thanks, Rach!

wonderful, very pleased
This is a nice pot with many applications. Wonderful for all dishes-especially rice with cranberries, etc. Clean-up is easy, maintains new appearance. The orange handles are cheerful. The oval shape fits nicely on one burner. We had misgivings about the clean-up & utility of the glass lid. It is well-tempered, metal-rimmed & we like it, for you can see the inside of the pot. It is not heavy. This is a healthy cooking tool as one does not need much oil on the base-nothing sticks. We also really like the extra high rim. We agree with the other reviewer-this is fast becoming one of our favorite pots/pans & is very useful. We are pleased with our purchase.Update 12.21.09: This pot still looks new. It is a great size. Washes up easily. The elliptical size allows for easy mixing & folding in of other ingredients. It has become the favorite pot in the kitchen.Goes into dishwasher easily.Update: 4.11: After several years of near-constant use, it is showing its age as the surface is not like new anymore. Use more oil, I guess. But, would probably invest in a replacement as it is a work-horse.

Loss of non-stick in the middle of the pan. Otherwise it is lightweight and bigger than most pans.
Update: I had to throw this pan out. The middle of the pan lost all non-stick ability. It became so difficult to cook with and clean. It needs to have better heat distribution. I liked that this pan was bigger than most, but until the heat distribution issue is resolved, I will not buy again.First, I really like this pan, I use it frequently. Because I use it frequently, I noticed some wear in the middle of the pan. The middle of the pan is discolored and has lost some of it's non-stick ability. I noticed this pan doesn't cook as well on the edges because most of the heat is concentrated to the middle, which would explain the wear and discoloration in the middle. It would also be nice if I could see my food in the pan through the lid, but it is always really fogged up. I'm not sure if that is normal or not so I'm not complaining about that too much. On the other hand, this pan is lightweight and sturdy. The handles stay cool and the grip is great, as well as the helper handle. It cleans up really well. I just hope I won't have to replace it sooner than later due to the wear in the middle. Overall, I am happy with this pan and do believe it to be of good quality, but it could be better designed to distribute more heat to the edges and not wear so much in the middle.

A hands-down winner
I bought this pan a few weeks ago, but haven't had a chance to use until today. I used it to make a beef braised in red wine. Sauteing the beef and then the chopped vegetables was a breeze. I thought that the oblong pan might be a problem with my stove, which his a flat glass top. But it worked out great. The fact that part of the pan is not under the burner was actually a benefit, because I could push the cooked vegetables to the less heated part and thus prevent overcooking. I then put the whole concoction (with the red wine, broth, etc.) covered in the oven for the 3 hours need to braise the meat. The rubber handles, while they still need to be handled with a pot holder, were not scorching hot like metal handles would have bee. This is going to be my new go-to pot for all stove-to-oven cooking.

Size!
This gave me a different prospective on shape. I have always had round and high sides. This gives me more base room and excellent for browning, and preparing more pieces of meat! I love it.

Highly recommended
My favorite pan. The third one in 15 years. I use this up to 3 or 4 times a week.

second one is a charm
Ordered this and when it arrived the lid was somehow warped and would not fit solidly onto the pan. Emailed amazon and they immediately sent out a replacement at no cost to me. got the second one and the lid fits as it should. Still haven't cooked with it yet but already I can see that I will like the oblong shape of the pan on the stove top because it will let me use all four burners simultaneously if needed, without crowding out other pans.

excellent product
I have used this unusually shaped oval Rachel Ray pot about 4 times and each time I am so happy with the results. It fits perfectly over two burners, it cooks evenly; it holds a large quantity of food so it is perfect for stews and braising. I recommend it highly. It is well worth the price. It seems to me that it is an answer to stovetops that only have one large burner because it fits so well on two small burners with the same and perhaps better results than using just the large burner. Every cook should have at least one of these pots.
