Umi Essentials Chin up Pull up Bar - Wall Mounted Upper Body Workout (Red)

Bought for my boyfriend birthday.He is a big guy so needed something big and meaty to hold his weight. This fold up to so not hitting your head on bars perfect.This is amazing was looking around and getting prices of £70 plus so thus was a barging plus got it on lightening deal so bonus.

Arrived completely destroyed, foolishly packed. Looks like it has been used and is being sold as new.. something which is illegal. Now I have the inconvenience of returning it. Not happy at all.

As a few users have already pointed out the way this equipment has been packaged I would automatically assume it was used and re sent out. All the screws came in a dirty plastic bag which was open and everything was scattered around the box. The soft padding was crushed and has taken a while to come out.The worst part about this product is the assembly instructions which is the worst I have ever seen. As pictured it shows everything on one page and half the time it doesn't even mention what screws to use, the fact you need to use washers and the screws it tells you to use are actually incorrect. Luckily most humans can work it out without the use for them but something that could be put together incorrectly and be a safety risk should really come with step by step guides.At least they put in enough washers, I was left with 12.As you can see the bar can be folded down for convenience which it really isn't. To do this you have to unscrew two of the bolts using a spanner and allen key each time you want it dropped or put back up that you are most likely going to leave it up. The material on the bars is also easily scratch-able that mine came with marks all over it from transport and when screwing in some of the bolts I could see it scratching off that nice matt black.The bar itself is weighty and strong and feels solid one up. The padding makes it comfortable when in use and it boosts that you can attach a punch bag too it as well and something I will do in time.This product comes with expansion screws and anyone who has not used one of them before I suggest looking on youtube for guidance as you will find none in the instructions not even the size of the drill piece you need.I believe this is designed to be placed in the garage and this is where mine is. Happy with the product but not how it was packed and the instructions are just poor.

Before moving onto the positives, I will first deal with the negatives. The instructions that came with this product are the worst I have even seen – It all fits on just 1 blurry printed page.For example, it refers to the longest bolts as 100mm (they are actually 95mm). It also assumes the 85mm bolts have been fitted and so makes no reference to them in the instructions.Which way the bolts and nuts goes in is not even drawn properly and as I am making this review I just had a look at the product picture and realised I have done some of them the wrong way round!In the end I was left with 3 spare washers (or maybe I didn’t put them somewhere they should be, who knows with these instructions…).Also it is advertised as being foldable – well that’s only if you count getting an allen key and wrench to undo 4 nuts/bolts every time you want to fold it down.Now finally onto the positives. This is very sturdy and well built. It doesn’t wobble as it has large expansion screws for attaching onto your wall – but be warned you will need a fairly large/wide drill bit and I had to end up buying one just for this.Material is the usual strong carbon steel, and I can confidently use this - although pullup bars are fairly safe anyway as you just land on your feet.Combine this with a power band to create assisted pullups for beginners and this is a killer must have compound exercise.

Being 6'5" and fairly largely-built, I needed a bar sturdy enough to take my weight. With a claimed 300lbs (136kg, or 21st 6lb) this one meets my needs (but of course you want to make sure that you bolt it securely into the wall to be able to make use of that - bolted into a decent solid brick/concrete wall, you're obviously not going to get away with mounting to plasterboard or anything silly like that!)Grips are comfortable, and haven't shown any major signs of wear yet.Attaching a punchbag is a handy capability, saving the requirement to install a punch bag hook too - although I'll admit I generally prefer a punchbag hanging from a hook in the middle of a garage/workout room so it can swing further and you have 360 degree access, but that takes up more space.The ability to fold the bar down when not in use so it's not sticking out is handy (although, at the height I have it, it's not going to be in the way much admittedly!)I see other reviewers had issues with it not being packed well enough or arriving damaged, but mine turned up fine.
