The Internal Dimensions of the case are: (HxWxD): 285mm x 430mm x 165mm As the foam sits to the edge, I would suggest that the above is pretty accurate

What size are the little foam squares that you can tear out?

15mm square by 73 mm deep. also has foam in the lid to prevent movement .

does the lid stay propped up as shown, or does it fold/fall all the way back?

as shown , its stiff so wont fall down with pressure applied .
