slums
KowloonWalled City was an oddity as it remained part of China from 1841' while within Hong Kong untill 1987, when it was to be demolished. It had been a home to 40,000 residents with virtually no law and order inhabited by brothels, drug dens and hundreds of unliscenced doctors and dentists that had no reguard to health and safety. The book is divided into 4 a)death in the city b) life in the city c) moving out and d) building a new city.Very well written with personal anecdotes of residents who lived in the city.Well worth reading. Highly recommended

Really a picture book.
This book is crammed with photos, and is very interesting as a sequel to "Chasing the Dragon". It tells the stories of some individuals that have been tremendously helped by the life's work of Jackie Pullinger, and also shows in part how Kowloon has changed over the years since she first arrived there. I felt disappointed that there was very little to read, and I had finished it in an evening.I didn't feel it was money wasted, though.

History
Good read though a bit religious (Jackie was doing this as her mission so I can understand the direction it came from).Fascinating part of our HK history.

I unfortunately did not realise that there was a paperback, as well as a bigger, illustrated bookby the same name. I ordered the wrong thing, but it was not your fault. I have since been ableto obtain a second-hand version which ideally met my needs. Thank you. I did return the bookto yourselves.

I loved it.
I’m a fan of Jackie, having read her prior book (Chasing the Dragon) and having visited her at Hong Kong. I find the stories within interesting, inspiring and fun. The chapters are fairly short, so reading the book is a little like eating popcorn - small bite sized pieces. The book was well worth the time and I’ll be sharing it with my community.

Excellent complement to Chasing the Dragon
While involved with a much smaller missionary project practically right in my own back yard (a man with severe dependencies and hyper mania who would easily and regularly go 10 days without sleep), my wife kept telling me I needed to read "Chasing the Dragon". She was right, I did! Chasing the Dragon gave me hope to persevere so that now we see reasons for rejoicing and I have a new good brother in the Lord. When I heard about "Crack in the Wall", I just had to have it. Crack in the Wall is the perfect complement to Chasing the Dragon especially for those who appreciate visual input. One important thing Chasing the Dragon did for me was to make me more bold in speaking out about the benefits of the gift of tongues and praying in the spirit that way. I have friends that are pushy about tongues. If it wasn't for their pushiness, I might have never received it. While still not quite as pushy as my friends, Chasing the Dragon has impressed upon me how important it is to share the value the gift of tongues can have. It is kind of like watching a loved one fight a battle with sticks and stones. They are quite comfortable with their sticks and stones being unaware of superior fire power easily available to them. Even when made aware they are still reluctant until they get to personally experience the difference. The problem with tongues is that you can't personally experience it until the gift is yours and utilized. You can hear all about it, but somehow skepticism remains. Chasing the Dragon should be an eye opener, causing everyone who has a personal relationship with our Lord Jesus, to desire this gift all the more. Thank you Jackie! And now with Crack in the Wall actually letting you see the faces and the places that Chasing the Dragon took place, makes it even more real. I'm very grateful I could acquire a copy of Crack in the Wall.
