I spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to come up with clever and small things to put in Christmas stockings for my adult children. The point is to be frivolous but fun. These were a big bit.

I was doing an outdoor (mostly) acoustic show with my small band and got these as a fun kitschy handout so people could participate in the cover songs. They're brightly colored and they work normally. They even come with instructions (which is good cuz I bet a lot of us spent some time blowing into the wrong end when we were kids). I didnt really have any use for the extra screen things. I included a photo of one of the green kazoos next to a more "professional" (!) Hohner kazoo and you can see they are very similar.

These kazoos sounded a little tin-like, but served their purpose for the cost. We tried another kazoo from someplace else to compare them, & these were liked better than that other kazoo. These had a little higher range (to play jingle bells to), so they worked very well for us.

You can never have too many kazoos. Yeah they’re plastic, yeah they’re basic, but they kazoo like you wouldn’t believe. They have a very raspy sound and are quite loud. 20 kazoos, 20 opportunities to make a friend. Give one to everyone.

The price is great, but the first kazoo I tried leaked air and was nearly unusable as it arrived. That is the black one. The second one I tried, the gold colored one, was good it held air and is fine right out of the package. On the black one, the main problem was theseam that runs the length of the kazoo leaked air quite a bit. That was the main trouble. But any type of sealant would work to seal the air leak like a silicone so it's airtight. Even bubblegum! Only three places air should come out, if the reed cover and reed are removed. 1. Where you blow into it. 2. Where the air goes out. 3. The reed area, which is normally sealed by the reed and the screw seal. So if you blow into it, put your thumb over the reed to seal, and put a finger to seal the other end there should be no air escaping. So if you fix that issue, you now have a kazoo that works. The reed they come with is plastic, and you can change out that reed, make another from wax paper or parchment paper, and also experiment with how tight they sit in the kazoo, remember you want this thing to vibrate. Last are the ends, they reduce the airflow. So if you were to file the ends more open you would get more flow but it isn't necessary. So for very little work you can have some nice metal kazoos if they don't work out of the box.

This was a great buy. There are a good many kazoos, bright colors, and they arrived in good condition (they were just wrapped in plastic in a PVC envelope, but they were fine). The young kids loved them! I did not use the replacement diaphragms, but they would be handy for someone using them at their own home.

Our vocal trio of "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" needed something to spice it up. A kazoo interlude was just the thing to add. These were a hit! Our audience loved them and they sounded great (if you like the sound of a kazoo), The different colors added some bonus visual pizzazz! Glad I got them. A bunch of fun.
