The Catherine Malandrino L'energie New York Parfum Spray has it all with its gorgeous packaging, elegant purple bottle, and a scent that's an exquisite blend of citrus and floral beauty. The various scents meld into something quite unique, greater than the sum of its parts. Not only that, it lasts!My wife tested it by spraying some on her wrist and neck in the morning. It lasted at least 8 hours, even after working out (and working up a sweat). The classy fragrance stands up to a vigorous, busy life with its energyzing mix of Citrus, Jasmine, Rose, and Geranium. These happen to be some of her favorite scents (mine too, ones I choose for candles, infusers and health and beauty aids). I cannot think of a more pleasing combination. The initial flowery-fresh citrus essence is layered with a sophisticated depth that lingers. It's not overpowering, but suggests a subtle, sophisticated, and tantalizing mix that's sweet and sexy and every bit luxurious. A pump or two from the diffuser goes a long way.The variegated glass bottle goes from clear to a rich purple at the bottom. The base is thick and sturdy and sits nicely on a perfume tray or vanity. The cap is easy on/off and feels good to the touch. As far as perfume bottles go ( my wife has Channel no. 5, Lancome, Saint Germain Diptyque, among others), the Catherine Malandrino is by far her favorite, and I adore how it smells on her skin.If you are on the market for a pleasing, long-lasting, and sophisticated yet playful perfume, L'energie New York is worth your consideration.~ Kort

What woman isn’t ready to try a new scent? Especially one developed by a famous designer? I was more than happy to try Catherine Malandrino’s L’energie New York eau de parfum spray.But I expected it to be a bit more citrusy and jasmine with notes of rose and geranium as the sales blurb promises. Instead, I’m getting a dominant musk scent. I’ve read that scents change on the skin, and I wonder if that’s what is happening to here.It’s an interesting scent, but on my skin it’s rather heavy and musky. And very long lasting. I can spray it on in the morning, bathe in the evening, and still smell it the following morning. Which would be better if I truly enjoyed the scent. But it will be a boon for those who like it.It arrives in a beautiful purple bottle that makes any dresser look sophisticated. And the scent itself is probably intended for more sophisticated women than I.I’m giving it four stars. I think that the sales blurb does a poor job of describing the scent, but I’m giving the scent the benefit of the doubt that it’s my skin chemistry bringing out the heavy musk notes.

The bottle this eau de parfum comes in is gorgeous. At first I thought the perfume was colored because you can see the clear bottle at the top, but no -- the bottle is clear at the top and progresses to dark purple at the bottom, with a heavy, weighted bottom. It's a fairly flat, ovalish shape, so for my short fingers, I have to turn the spray nozzle so that I'm holding the narrow part.I get a good deal more floral scent than I do citrus, but I (and my husband) like the floral scent. I'm not a fan of musky scents, and I don't get too much of that. I also don't like "heavy" perfumes, and this one is light. Of course, everyone is different and scents react differently on different people.This is quite a nice scent but if you don't like florals, this might not be the one for you. For me, it's very pleasant.

I've never heard of Caherine Malandrino but I know her brand now. This perfume is absolutely excellent. First, the bottle is attractive and purple, and the box it comes in is very attractive and gift worthy. the size is generous, especially for perfume.But it's all about the smell. This smells so good. My husband and I sometimes have trouble finding scents we both like. I sprayed this one and went mmmmm, and he went, wow, that is great! so yay. It's not overwhelming. The citrus is more predominate. Don't let "rose" be a turn off, it's not a grandma fragrance (although my grandma always wore the best perfumes and smelled great). It's light but long lasting. It also has an underlying woodsy scent, the description says cedar but again, not the strong overwhelming cedar of a closet or chest, more a very subtle interplay with the flower scent.I honestly love this perfume. Up until now Light blue by Dolce and Gabanna has been my all time favorite scent, but this is right there at the topThe scent is light enough for summer, pleasant enough to go out to eat without choking everyone around you, great for work or elegant enough for a special night out.

I was excited to get this perfume because jasmine, rose, and geranium are my favorite scents. Unfortunately those are the top notes, and it settles into more musk than floral. I prefer all floral myself.PROS:+ Beautiful bottle and beautiful box; a great gift+ Pretty long lasting (not 8 hours but most of a day)+ A very pleasing scent with nice citrus and floral top notes, anchored by musk and cedar.+ The top is easy-off (not unscrew) which is good when you have lotion or what have you on your handsCON:- To me the floral doesn't last and the base musk note takes over. I prefer all floral.

I am not very good with identifying the different fragrances in perfume. I will say that my teen daughter did not find this to her liking. I would agree with her that it is more of a mature fragrance. It is not one that is quite my style. I love Burberry Weekend and that is practically all that I ever use, in case that helps to provide a frame of reference. I am very sensitive to some perfumes. This one did not trigger any headaches, nausea, sneezing or other symptoms I have experienced in the past. It is pleasant, not too flowery. I just like Burberry better.
