So far, So good
I ordered this for $99.99 with free shipping from DependableResource. MSRP on the Sony SmartWatch is $149.99, Sony sells it from their site for $129.99 and I got it for $99.99 which makes this a AWESOME deal!Shipping was free for being over $25 and was super fast in only four (4) days from placing my order. I ordered on 1/15/13, it was shipped on 1/16/13 and delivered by USPS on 1/19/13.My reason for purchase was that I had bought a nice Invicta watch over the holiday season and it had broken after the first two weeks of use from dropping it off the kitchen counter (Tell me about it, a supposedly $400 MSRP watch that I had gotten from Sam's Club on sale for $80 after one drop from about 4' high makes the minute hand become dislodged internally), so I returned it. During that few days of having the broken watch before returning it, all the rave in watches seemed to be over the Pebble SmartWatch showed at CES. Looking into this I realized I'm not a big fan of the black and white e-Paper screen (although it looks nice, and may give it a try one day), so I started looking for alternatives. There are a few alternatives, two off the top of my head would be the original Sony SmartWatch (LiveView) which I didn't really look too much into, but the way it looked and the materials they used wasn't too appealing to me, and even at the $25 price range I didn't want to end up wasting money. The other alternative was the Motorola MOTOACTV and does look quite nice, but at the $250 MSRP and even on sale still at $200, I think I'll pass.Leading up to the arrival of the device I had already installed all the appropiate Android applications on my phone to make the Sony SmartWatch fully functional (e.g. LiveView and SmartWatch applications, as well as all the Missed Call, Facebook and Weather plugins). NOTE: LiveView application does not seem to be necessary for this version of the Sony SmartWatch.Upon turning on the device you do have to plug it into a computer for up to two (2) hours before use to charge the battery. I only waited about a hour for charge before going to the Sony Mobile page to see if there were any applicable updates for the SmartWatch, in which there were. I have also provided the link for downloading the Sony update software below. Once the software on my PC showed that the update was complete I then turned on the bluetooth on my Android device (Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3) and powered on the SmartWatch, automatically the watch will search for devices. Once the devices were paired, the SmartWatch application on my phone started to run another update for the SmartWatch, in which my thoughts are that it was finalizing the update I had already done from my PC. After this, the watch was still connected to the PC in a charging state while connected to my phone. During the two hour charging process that Sony had recommended I had decided to kill all birds with one stone. All while this two hour wait I had paired the devices and setup the watch to my preference with widgets, applications and their settings as well as the order of the apps I wanted them to appear on my device. Once the charging was complete I was 100% ready to use the watch. My first initial thoughts on this device is that it sleek, sexy and just looks totally awesome. The included wrist band that comes with it is very comfortable and soft. It doesn't pinch or bind your skin, have any sharp edges or for me having a job where I do a lot of typing, it doesn't make my wrist sore or feel like I'm scratching up the band. You do get a 20mm universal band adapter as well as the pins, this piece feels really nice, solid and has a nice look to it. The cable included is about 2' long, white and has a nice soft touch rubberized feel to it, overall seems like a good quality cable. The device itself has a perfect weight to it, not heavy and not too light, I think Sony got this just right in designing this watch. There are no rattling sounds or moving parts internally and it's a really solid device. With a 1.3" mulit touch display and a OLED screen, this face is really beautiful, as well as the SONY logo popping out at you (I've always been in love with the Sony logo since I was a child) all wrapped in a solid and cool looking aluminum bezel and it's precision machine cut lip. The white back is a shiny plastic which is really smooth to the touch, personally I would have liked it better for a black alternative, but that's just me.As far as the interface of the watch itself, it is a very smooth and fluid user interface. It does take some getting used to. At first I couldn't understand where the applications and actual widgets were differentiated from the device, thinking the widgets were the list of apps and it looked nothing like the 2x2 grid of apps I had been seeing in the pictures. Within the first day of using this device I'm at like a 7/10 for overall happiness with this product. I will only list cons as I do not have time to point out the Pros of this device, as everything else does what it's supposed to do as in the product details.Cons:1. Not for outdoor use, display is darn near unviewable in direct sunlight.2. Display is too dim, no brightness control3. Could not find a way to accept the call from watch prior to taking phone out of pocket.4. Slight lag going into apps5. No choice of display timeout for actual clock display6. Call handling application does not have the ANSWER function as shown in pictures, only decline/mute.7. Charging port contact is a little unstable, moving it even slightly loses connection.8. Sometimes pressing the button to reply with a quick text is hard to get it to touch.

Pros and Cons Detailed...
I've had this for a few days now.... and I personally love it. It's far from perfect... future versions need to improve on a few things... but, overall... good for what it was made for.The key thing to think about with this version of the SmartWatch... is it's not really a "watch" per se, it's more like a remote control for your phone that gives you quick easy access to the most important features of your phone without constantly having to pull out you phone. Great for meetings, events, movies, and workouts. Anyway... here are your pros and cons... cons first... but, read the pros... for me, there are definitely more of them! :)Cons:1) Display - Hard to see in bright sunlight which hurts the purpose of using it for running and biking and, the display resolution and refresh rate leaves a TON to be desired. If you've seen the iPods you wear as a watch... yea... this is not even close.2) Time and Independent Usage- It doesn't keep the time at all. It's REALLY nothing more than an extension of your phone. Without your phone, it's basically a square piece of plastic. Except that once it has synced with your phone, it WILL hold the time as long as it stays on.3) Touch - Touch can be slightly off (i.e. you have to touch directly above the item you trying to get to) but, that might be because I have big fingers. One thing they should do in future versions is allow you to confirm the sending of texts. They give you the option to reply to texts from your watch with a canned response "call me", and in trying to "swipe" to back out... it sent a reply to "call me" to someone I didn't want to actually call me. But, again... big fingers... what're you gonna do?:)4) No Mic. speaker, or Camera - Now, I don't really know if I'd call this a con... it's more of a "want" that would make this device significantly cooler. It would be REALLY great if I didn't have to pull my phone out and I could answer the phone directly from the watch... and even video conference. But, I'm guessing that would make the device slightly larger than we would want... and you could always get a bluetooth earpiece and simply use the phone as the remote control.5) Charging cord - I mean... why try to be Apple-like and create a proprietary charging cord? Micro-USB would've been just fine. Not to mention, the cord is ornery... the connection is not tight... so I have to make sure it's sitting in just the right position so that it charges fully, which I think is the reason for numerous complaints about the lack battery time (which will actually be mentioned as a "pro").Pros:1) Looks cool- Nothing really more to say. It's sleak, cool, and it gets attention. Would be nice if there were slightly more options for the standard time face, but there are paid apps for that if you want.2) Exceptional phone integration and communication- Since I've had the watch, I don't have to regularly check to see if I have texts, I can turn off the alerts, and I can still be up to date on everything from email, facebook, texts, calendar events, and more (with other apps).3) Extremely customizable - there are a sufficient number of apps to really give your Smartwatch an identity.4) Battery- There were some complaints about the battery time... I think this is more because you have to make sure the cord is fully connected, but, I've run this thing for 3 days straight without charging. Battery is definitely sufficient. I would avoid using a lot of "widgets" though is you want to extend your battery time.5) GPS and Excersice apps... I LOVE the GPS directly on the watch... I can see where I am at anytime. Walking, biking, etc (of course, the display is weak in bright sunlight)... I know where I am at a glance. And, there are a number of apps which track your travel progress and exercise routine.6) Music remote- Get some bluetooth (or regular) headphones... and never take your phone out of your pocket. Change your tunes directly from your phone. They even have a Spotify remote app! Awe-summm! :) Now all I need is an AudioGalaxy and Pandora app.7) Discreetness- Ok... this is the BEST thing about the SmartWatch. Check your emails and texts in meetings... at the movie theater... while someone is talking your ear off... whatever...and they'll never know. You can even use the free "find phone" app to find your phone... or even better... initiate a fake call from your watch to help end an unwanted conversation.8) Dialing - Use the "phone book" app to quickly dial anyone from your contact list. And, you can choose your entire contact list or just favorites... Be sure to add "911" to your favorites list for safety! I wish actual dialing of numbers this were part of the watch features, but there is a .99 app which allows you to dial using your SmartWatch. The features are actually limitless... with the development of more apps. I think the SmartWatch is a fantastic purchase... and at just over $100 here at Amazon, definitely worth the price! The device is HIGHLY recommended, but just make sure you understand the issues with the device going into your purchase.OHHhhh!!! Screen protector is a MUST!!! As with most watches... you can expect to get scratches if it's not protected.Enjoy! Hope this review helped!

My fault of buying this
I made a great mistake of buying this Smart Watch, thinking this is a cell phone. Okay, my fault. Maybe I did not read carefully the product information. Now, when I got it, I realized disappointed that I can't use this product at all, even as a watch! Simple, to get it working, you need to have android cell phone and a blue tooth. When I looked at product information again, yes, it reads this is smart watch for android phones. But I was not the only one who thought about this as a cell phone. There were three of us among whom one person was a knowledgeable high tech user, and nobody noticed that this can't be used at all without android cell. Another disappointment was missing plug-in part for charger and you can't charge this watch unless you go and buy the missing part. So, what is point of selling something you call "watch" and even you can't turn it on as a watch without having that fancy android cell phone and blue tooth?! They should make at least some application available without android cell, such as time, compass, etc. This way, it is totally useless! Further more, if you have blue tooth for your android cell, why would you need this item to "save you from the effort of pulling your cell out from your pocket"? So, I paid $120 for an useless item.

but they both did not serve a good enough purpose for me to keep them
Working in the Cellular field, I wanted to give a Smartwatch a try. I have had a Pebble and Galaxy Gear in the past, but they both did not serve a good enough purpose for me to keep them. I checked around and saw almost no big benefit to going from the MN2 to the SW2, so I decided to put down a few dollars and purchase this smartwatch.Big Mistake. The overall unit is very nicely built. Strong shell, two wrist straps (black and white) and bright screen (battery life is not too bad either). Unfortunately, and here is the most important part for anyone considering this unit - The screen you see in the photos, screenshots or even the box are so misleading. It looks as if the screen is very high resolution and would have pixels that are showing. That would be everyone's first mistake. The screen quality is terrible. All the icons look as if they were designed in the 90's and the pixels are just terrible. Its unfortunate that I have this unit. If I had known that the photos and screenshots were enhance by so much, I never would have purchased this unit.
