Don't make the same mistake I did. You get what you pay for. I'm a brand new beginner and wanted a set to just get started and then maybe move on to a more expensive set if the hobby took off. The blades are absolutely not razor sharp. I have better luck carving the wood with a little pocket knife I got at home depot. Most of the cuts are choppy. I really can only use one of the blades to carve something proper. Really pay attention to the sizes listed in the pic, these are small and make your hands cramp up. I really wish I would have spent the extra money to get a proper set.

Perfect for beginners, as the dull blades and thin handles will force you to take your time while whittling. It's about what you'd expect for 12 blades and 5 blocks of wood for $25. Don't expect anything extravagant. But, if you can take your time and be patient, it will provide you something to do in your spare time. But, had I known these were gonna be the quality of blades before hand, I would've bought a single whittling knife of higher quality to start with and then expanded my collection from there. Still unsure night I'm going to return or not. Also, one of the handles came broken :-(

There was a snafu with the seller due to holiday season and an issue with China's manufacturers. The seller was willing to go above and beyond to make it right. I decided to purchase a more expensive set but I think people trying to get into woodcarving would absolutely love love love this set (if they don't encounter any hiccups like I did, but again, seller made good on their end so there's very little risk involved). I recommend that whoever chooses to buy this also gets something to sharpen the blades with, as they will likely wear out quickly. Very fun! If you are looking to get into carving you will spend many hours widdling away with this.

Looks good so far, all the tools seem pretty sturdy. Only thing I wish it included was a description of what each tool is best used for or names if they have them. I'm a total beginner, so it would definitely be nice to have something like that.

Product shipped/delivered fast. Tools seem durable. Overall decent quality. I fault myself for not looking closely enough, but there are actually very few beveled tools, most are flat. There are 4 ‘U’ shaped bevels and 1 ‘V’ shaped, the rest are flat. In addition, the standard English numbering system is not on these tools, usually displaying the width between points and the curvature of the bevel. I also would have preferred a larger handle, the ones on these tools are relatively small. Leaves much to be desired.

I purchased this set for my Grandfather who does this as a hobby. He was very happy with the size of the handles for each tool, because at an older age it is harder to get a grip on some of the smaller Exacto-branded tools he used to have. The tools have been durable, and no breaks or chips to date. Very satisfied with this.

One of them is already starting to rust a little bit, other than that they seem to be okay and easy to use, for beginners.
