The AM-HAP200 High Fidelity Microphone is a great unit to add to a security setup. It is small and compact and can be placed inconspicuously for pickup of audio not available on a mic-less security camera or DVR/NVR. It has high resolution to pick up small sounds as well as loud. The range is good. It can be used anywhere there is a mic input and 12V power source, my unit came with a double headed pigtail with no cascade. An additional RCA/RCA or RCA to 3.5mm cable is needed to connect the audio output to a destination. It is not sealed/weatherproofed so an indoor location is ideal. I have a bunch of cameras that unfortunately don't have a microphone built-in, so I had been looking for something external I could use. Thankfully with this little microphone, I've got something I can seamlessly add to my video streams in a specific area so I also have sound. Would definitely buy again if I need another one!

I have purchased this Mic to use with my Amcrest IP outdoor camera. (Tested it with IP4M-1028 & IP8M-2493). I have connected the Mic with Male RCA cable. The audio quality i hear is of average quality as it do not have proper noise cancellation. Audio has some distortion but for normal case most people will find it acceptable.The microphone is not weather sealed so you have to choose location with minimum outdoor effects like rain and snow.Overall Experience: Since there are not many options for branded microphones for IP camera, the most reasonable option for these microphone i can see was Amcrest AM-HAP200 microphone. The performance of the mic is good for most of the situation. I must add that with this price Amcrest must include a power adapter which this microphone needs for operation.

Much better sound quality than my Speco microphone I replaced with this. I do wish it were smaller than it is. It is a bit more expensive than I think it should be too. It's kind of old tech.

This was a perfect solution to add audio capabilities to an existing camera location without replacing the whole camera. I have an existing system I am slowly upgrading and this made adding audio recording easy.

I order this product because the two way audio wouldn’t work on my amcrest cam or maybe I just didn’t understand how to get it to work. I thought this would help and it didn’t . I think this work better with a different camera model, or set up.So I’m not saying that it doesn’t work. It just wasn’t what I needed and didn’t work in the way I tried to use it. Good luck

I use these with the newer AvertX (POE) cameras that support audio-in with an RCA jack. It works well as I position these inside the attic, positioned just above the soffit holes/slots so it picks up outdoor sounds without direct exposure to the weather. The problem is getting power to this device. I did have a legacy 2-wire DC voltage for my older coax cameras, so reused that. Would be nice if the power for these could be sourced from POE going to the camera, but camera still needs power.

I dislike the fact that it's hard to install since I recived it, I want to install it with my surveillance cameras to hear the voices of people going through my mail and can't even install it, on top of that I purchase 2-3 other items to try to install and make it work unfortunately it was unsuccessful and I still can't install it. Will never purchase this item again.
