Rovner Ligature & Plastic Cap for Bb Clarinet - Versa Ligature for Hard Rubber Mouthpiece (V-1R)

This is a great Ligature! I have switched from my regular Rovner to the Rovner Versa. It makes the altissimo more stable and has a nice sound. And it's inexpensive for a ligature of this quality. Because different metal plates can be substituted, it is very versatile.

Wonderful ligature!

my son's metal ligature broke on his clarinet and his band teacher recommended this one. Not only is it easy to use and durable, but it greatly improved the tone of the instrument. Even though my son's playing ability was far more advanced than many of his peers, his teacher told him he could not be first chair because many of his notes sounded flat. when his original metal ligature broke, I attached the reed with a zip strip (I know, kind of ghetto) and to our surprise, he was able to play in tune consistently. After installing the new Rover 1R ligature the instrument played in tune and sounded warmer. Definitely happy with this product. I was going to subtract a star because it does seem a bit pricey but I believe it's worth the price and it's certainly less expensive than some of the "professional" level products.

I’m a beginner, this is only in comparison to the stock metal, two screw ligature standard on a Selmer Prelude. I’m down to less than 3% squeeks and I think this ligature has helped. Its design appears to put more even pressure on the reed and it’s quicker to apply. There’s only one screw to turn and, for some reason, you don’t have to fiddle with keeping the reed aligned as much. A subtle feature I really like is that Rovner has put their branding on the INSIDE . I like that in products, hard to find these days when even Chinese socks are branded.

Gets the job done. The cap is very thin, the screw however looks nice and thick and fits good. Hopefully will last.

I bought this quite a long time ago. I played clarinet in our high school band, but wanted to see if I could change the sound of my tone with any /small/ investments. I never had the money to purchase a high-end instrument. Anyway, I bought this on a whim, since it was relatively cheap at the time. When you first receive it, unless you've experienced these sort of ligatures before ( rather than the basic metal ones that always break! ), you may have to figure out how first it is supposed to go on. It's not that difficult, and with common sense it's sorted out quickly. I feel that this ligature helped to flesh out my high-register notes (F/E above the staff, and then eventually higher!) that always seemed quite shrill. I feel my sound became a bit more round, and warm. My director warned that he had a student who had one of these, but it never tightened properly, but that was not my experience, so unless there is product quality control issues, you shouldn't worry too much about that. I never found a reason to go back to my old ligatures.

One of the best ligatures there are on the market I can really tell the difference it makes when switching from a basic metal one to a leather one like this. The mouthpiece cap protects your mouthpiece well and everything is overall great.

This is the original Rovner design that led to all of the "inverted" style fabric on the market today. I believe that, more often than not, the original, simplest, un-fiddled-with design remains the best, and this is the prime example. Rovner (and everybody else) make zillions of different versions of this type of ligature, with inserts and all manner of widgets, but I still like this the best. It tends to push the sound towards the mellower side (but unfortunately it IS NOT a substitute for practicing), it's inexpensive, indestructible, and as an extra added attraction it makes reed changes on the fly fast and easy.
