IF YOU HUNT BIGFOOT IN THE WOODS, BUY THIS FLASHLIGHT!! EITHER WAY JUST BUY IT!!
I live in the city and I walk my dog in the dark parts and I got this light because of the lumens and its small. It is very bright and has about 4 bright settings along with a strobe light. I have never never ever given any importance to a flashlight...a flashlight??? especially for $70 bucks or so..but this light was worth it! It could even be used as a protection device-blind someone or hit them with the accessories that you can attach to this flashlight- visit nitecore website for more info on that. This sucker lights your dark areas like nothing. I dont know if helicopters or planes can see the light, but you probably can use it for calling help too. If you like to go into the woods for whatever reasons like bigfoot hunting, camping, or you live out there, then please get this flashlight..its worth it and you need it. buy more than one perhaps too. I am going to. This light would probably scare the crap out of E.t. or bigfoot or werewolves, whoever or whatever you encounter in the woods. I look back at the old time flashlights from the 80s that used that yellow light bulb (I actually have some around and compare them) I cant believe we people got around with those things??? I am obsessed with flashlights now..lol It says it shines or beams to about 300 yards or so..I dont know if that is true. I walk my dog to a dark football field and it seems to beam out pretty far past the 100 yard field etc.. I am ready for a 2000 lumens! Dont buy the rechargeable batteries that come with this light, just use duracell or energizer batteries that are rechargeable though...Nitecore told me not to use Lithium Ion batteries, just alkaline or the Nimh rechargeables. Contact the nitecore customer service if you have more technical questions. Either way this is probably the best brightest smallest flashlight you could have. Just get at least one, it will be worth it.

A Field Kit In Itself
The NiteCore Explorer EA-41, (2015 edition) searchlight is a wonderful addition to the field man who has everything. It's not just a flashlight to see your way around the tent. For that, there's always the "MX991" clip-on and the attendant D-cells. What we're talking about here is a perfect signaling device that doesn't emit RF for all the neighborhood to get worked up about, like using your CB while they're watching the telly. The EA-41 is distributed by Eastshine, and they're on Amazon, and they have BUNDLES, meaning the more stuff, the lower the price. Here's the kit: The EA-41 has a 40 mm round shape. The light is able to be fitted with the NiteCore filters, NFB40 (BLU), NFR40 (RED), NFG40, (GRN), NFD40 (Diffused WHT) and the NDF40 WHT cone. Here's where several months of use add its 2 cents to the review: I carry the E41 in its cordura holster. I just happen to run the NFD40 and the NFB40 filters. The rubber cap for the filters has a little cut out so a tiny caribiner can be shoved through, but if it's on a web belt, they're gonna get lost. This is where the MX-991/u outshines (no pun intended) the EA41: The MX lights have an added cap in back of the battery cap, to store the five filters. Out of sight, out of mind. The EA41, if it's going to be stored and deployed from a case of some sort, is cool with the outboard filters and all their rubber domes. The 40mm filter disks easily slide out of their rubber holders, so an added screw-on section aft of the battery cap, and one "permanent" rubber dome on the LED end that could be left blank would be a sizeable competitor to the MX series and their filter scheme. Let's say your cousin Billy Bob is helicoptering in some fresh salmon for the little lady, and it's way after dark. Billy Bob and you already discussed what day of the week means what color filter, way beforehand. So snapping on the right filter is easy, and what makes this light so great is that you can use a paper towel roll or even a toilet roll as a shroud around the lens. It's a snug fit. With the EA41 on Turbo setting, Billy Bob can see the strobe mode at 5,000 feet altitude and three miles downrange. And importantly, the Gazoomie Family, right next door, won't be bothered by strange lights seen through their cave entrance. The fact that it can run on AA cells is another boon. You can get AA's in packs of 10,000 if you know where to shop.Hey! Never look at the bulb to see if it's on. It's like looking at an arc welder. Iff'n you do, you won't be worth a plumb nickel outdoors at night. Go point it at somebody else. Like the Gazoomie family goat. The holster has a velcro belt loop and a D-ring so it will hang on an Alice along with the other toys. Get your el-cheapo relatives to shell out for a kit this season and tell them they might be doing something useful fo a change. Now if you end up liking this puppy as much as I did, your next light is going to be the NITECORE TM06s. You can light the Astrodome with just 1.

My favorite flashlight I own
I have a wide variety of led lights and some are considerably brighter than this one. I find that this light is the one I consistently grab over all the other ones. I find the ergonomics to be just perfect for my hand. Its also not so cumbersome to put in my jacket due to its relatively small size. I thought the 1 lumen ultra low setting would be a waste but find I use it just as much as the turbo setting. It provides enough light to "see" at night but allows for my eyes to quickly adjust to my surroundings once I turn it off. The built in battery compartment is awesome. Some of my other lights have a removable battery cartridge which feels very flimsy and can be a bit of a chore to remove the batteries. This one you just unscrew the bottom, turn upside down, and the batteries slide out. The two button on/off switch and brightness setting is very easy to use and feels like a quality switch with a very good quality rubber cover. I am very impressed with this little lights ability to throw such a long distance for such a compact design. The fit and finish is excellent. I really am quite impressed by this light.

it looks good and is comfortable in your hand
I have many flashlights from various manufacturers such as; fenix, foursevens, olight etc. This light however, is outstanding. You can listen to others talk about it or watch you tube videos, but until you get it in hand you will never understand the quality of it. First, it looks good and is comfortable in your hand. The next and most important thing however, is that it produces a beautiful, bright, well defined beam of light. One of the most surprising things for me is that the beam throws amazingly far for such a compact light that uses four AA batteries. As I said before, it looks great and appears to have excellent build quality. Finally, the best and perhaps most surprising thing was the price. I would have never expected to get this flashlight at such a reasonable price. I think I'm gushing so its time to stop, permit me to say that this one is a winner!!
