Perfect - exactly what the physical therapist (physio) requested, no substitutes
This is exactly what the physical therapist wanted for my husband's back and shoulder stretching exercises. She indicated it needed to be 6 inches in diameter by 36 inches (3 feet) long and MEDIUM (also known as STANDARD) density, not hard/not soft. This met the size and density specifications exactly. It is a brand PT/OT professionals use and is a long-wearing durable material, not easily broken or flattened like inexpensive rollers. Our health insurance typically doesn't cover items like rollers, but it was still a good value purchasing it through here versus buying it at the physical therapy office. My husband is using it for stretching shoulder muscles to provide pain relief. Along with a few other exercises, this roller is definitely helping relieve pain and provide flexibility.

Great for ackin back,highly recommend.
This works fantastic and is what they have me use @ physical therapy and if you have a ackin back get one and just roll your back it has helped me tremendously.

As expected
Shipping was on time. Standard density, is pretty hard, it doesn't compress much under weight of 190 lbs person. Great for neck and back.

Good overall but with slight flaw explained.
I bought this and one of the more expensive rollers, based upon the reviews. I kept the this one for the following reasons. It was just slightly softer and I couldnโt justify the higher price since My use would be limited to myself. You should know that this roller appears to be ground or to a round shape. As such it is not precisely cylindrical. It seemed ok for my use. If I were going to use this a lot or if multiple people are using it, Iโd opt for a more expensive roller. They are perfectly round and the finish seems more durable.

As a retired ACSM cert trainer I recm THIS roller over others
This is the roller to get. These foam rollers soften and torque and change shape over time. This one is hard enough that it remains fairly firm and straight and this is critically important to get the benefits from such rollers. Physical Therapists all use this one but it is true that they may have the cheaper softer ones for people just starting out on the roller and are struggling through the initial stages of inflamation or injury. Otherwise, THIS is the roller to get and I would suggest you ignore the few complaints about it being "too hard". You want these rollers hard for several reasons: 1. To do what they are intended to do, 2. To remain rigid and straight longer than a week. If you are using the roller properly, yes - you will have some discomfort and even what some might describe as "pain" which is why you don't get on these things and roll on them quickly; they are meant to work with slowly as you gradually use them to help to bring order to traumatized muscle and connective tissue. Your body will adapt if you use the roller regularly and what seems "hard" today re this roller will in 3.5 weeks of rolling everyday or every other day seem almost soft and a pleasurable nice gentle massage after that. So stick with it, don't go get a cheaper softer roller, and use it AS DIRECTED - yes even you, the non-expert, who thinks you know just exactly how hard or soft these things should be. The roller is for massage as well as stability (strengthening) work and again, in my professional experience in the trade, this is the best one out there. The only better one I've experienced is one I made by using plastic pipe from plumbers supply and glued sticky mats to the outside of the pipe. This one is slightly softer than using my home-made pipe one; this one is the perfect consistency of hard enough to do the job but soft enough not to break anything.

Perfect for PT exercises
Great for physical therapy exercises. The right amount of softness for rehabilitation shoulder and chest exercises. They are expensive but high quality.

If you want an effective foam roller, get it!
I love this foam roller! I have had several others but this one is superior. I used it at a PT clinic and then saw that my Pilates studio had it as well. After using it a few times in those settings, I knew I had to get one for home. Itโs firm and effective. It is long enough that I can roll out my whole spine on it. With its density, it is very good at producing that โhurts so goodโ type of pain that I am looking for in a foam roller. Although it is on the more expensive side compared to other foam rollers on the market, I think itโs absolutely worth it.
