I watched a YouTube video in how to replace an iPhone SE battery, since mine barely made it through a day, and when I saw those itty bitty pieces being pulled out, I said "no way am I doing that"! So, I opted to get a battery adjunct instead. When I received this and slide my phone in with my go-to, folded $20 bill, the phone got royally stuck in the case. It took a lot of maneuvering to slide it back out, and I won't say how I finally did it, so bottom line, nothing can go between phone and this case. The good news is both batteries can be charged at once. It doesn't seem to take too much longer either. When I first charged the case it was on its own, and when I switched over to use it after my phone battery was low, it went straight away to 99%. Then I charged it along with my phone until the phone status said 100%. When phone battery went down again, and I switched over, this time it took about 20 minutes to get all the way up to 100%. I thought at first the adjunct battery wasn't properly charged since I had charged them together. I couldn't find any real info on this whole charging business, so it was trial and error, and why I'm writing this review. The adjunct battery does kick in and will charge to 100%, it just takes 20 mins or so. Don't panic like I did at first thinking it wasn't working. This setup is great for longer battery life giving me double the time. I've gotten used to the heavier feel, and actually like the beefiness. It still fits in my back pocket, though bulkier. Makes the phone feel like a sheaf of paper when out of the case. I would buy this again.

***UPDATE***The case has lasted almost two years now. The battery is still strong enough to charge my phone a few times before it needs a recharge itself. The only problem I have noticed is the top of the case has gotten a little loose and sometimes comes off when I pull my phone from my pocket. I'm not going to deduct any stars for that because it has exceeded my expectations overall. I'll probably get a new phone soon anyway.Original Review:I used this case during a long trip to Europe, and it performed perfectly. To charge, you simply plug in your lightning cable as you would without the case. The phone and the case charge at the same time. I think it takes longer to reach a full charge than it might without also charging the case, but it is still a reasonable time. The case just acts as a normal case until you need to recharge your phone. Then you press a button on the back, and the case’s battery recharges your phone. There was plenty of reserve power to recharge my iPhone SE a few times a day during heavy use. Reception may have been affected by charging, but not enough to make a difference in my usage. The case looks pretty good, though plain. It adds a lot of bulk to the phone, but no more than I would expect. It’s more noticeable because the phone is so slim and light to start with. The process of putting the case on the phone is straightforward, but it seems like the top cap could break if you put it on and took it off frequently. I didn’t have a problem. If you like to use a card sleeve on the back of your case, you may find that space is tight for attaching a sleeve as you normally would because the case’s power button and charge level LEDs get in the way. Once the case is on, the phone camera is more recessed than normal, but I didn’t notice any impact on photo quality. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase at the price.

Owned it before, it’s not permanent, it gets picky after a while about charging position. But eh’ 20 bucks and I quadruple my phone battery for a year, good deal overall. Wish they made a WATERPROOF external battery, best of both worlds. Until then, this plus a waterproof sack and I’ve got an invincible phone.

The size surprised me when I received it. I thought it was big. But it has more to do with how small the iPhone SE is. After 1 day with the battery case, it felt normal again.How is the performance? Excellent.The iPhone SE battery is about 1600mah. This battery case is 4000mah. Which means it should give me about 2.5 full charges once my iPhone battery gets to 0%. I tested it and it TRULY is 4000mah. With my phone battery at 100% and the battery case fully charged, it lasted almost 4 days, and I charged the phone from 5% --> 100% about 2.5 times.The first time I ever charged the phone the battery case felt warm but never hot. After that, it never changed in temperature again during charging.It's great that I can just charge the phone and battery case without having to take out the phone. The battery case also auto turns off its charged once the phone reaches full capacity.For the money it's an amazing product.Note that I only used it for 5 days. I'm hoping it lasts for awhile. I will update this review if any problems happen in the future. For now, I highly recommend it.Edit: After unclipping the top once, the top piece will not fit in place.Also, I cannot remove the phone from the battery case. Tried thin pliers but am afraid of damaging the phone with pressure. Since you have to put the phone into the bottom case lightning port, it requires some force to remove but there's no way room to pull the phone out with your fingers.Would not recommend for these reasons. However, the battery itself is a 5/5.

Well, this case was a good price. It worked great for about 2.5 years, and then it started taking much longer to charge and not charging the iPhone for as long. Part of that could be the battery in the iPhone. I suppose that's to be expected; this model is 5 years old. The case does still work, just not for as long as it did when it was new. Most people will replace their phones in that time frame anyway.
