Great Quality Ultra Light 3 Season Bag!
Great Quality Ultra Light 3 Season Bag!In anticipation of a Rim to Rim to Rim multi day hiking / camping trip through the Grand Canyon I purchased the Terra Hiker Sleeping bag after extensive research. I was looking for a light weight compact bag with excellent warmth and durability. Feature rich but light enough for ultra light use and quality materials and build. All of this and hopefully more in a bag that was reasonably priced for most hikers / campers who were in the market for a new sleeping bag. Long story short, I found this and more in the Terra Hiker 3 Season bag and I highly recommend it! For the long story, please read on 😊The sleeping bag is extremely compact and stuffs well in the provided stuff sack. Adjustable plastic buckles cinch the bag tightly and hold it in place firmly. Upon opening the stuff sack and airing the bag out you have high quality materials throughout. High grade ripstop black fabric, high grade non snag 2 way zippers, and quality sewing throughout. This bag looks and feels great! This bag is generous in size and my lean 5’8” frame fit in with LOTS of room to spare. I know this bag will fit larger and taller men or women with ease. It is packed with quality down material and there was no strange odors like other bags in this price range sometimes have.On the trail, this bag was going up against an 2 REI bags, a Kelty, and a Western Mountaineering bag all priced WELL above this sleeping bag. In fact my fellow hikers wondered how I would fair for the week long trip we were about to embark on. Needless to say, I was very pleased with this sleeping bag and can highly recommend it!On the Rim this bag held its own and I was warm and toasty inside with my usual warm sleeping set on. Ditching the warm sleep set in the car, it was time to head into the canyon. In the canyon it was light weight and took up very little space in by pack. It was light and easy to pack early in the AM, and easy to unpack after a long day on the trail. The Down stayed in place and I experienced no clumping. No issues with wear or tear and it held up well. Toe box was generous and Zippers were excellent making this bag easy to ventilate during warmer temperatures that were encountered further along in our travels. After the trip, I simply aired the bag out and placed in a larger nylon mesh bag for storage until my next adventure. All in all this bag held up well against other well known brands and my fellow hikers were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the bag and how well it did compared to their higher priced “brand names”. Of course I was so pleased to get a high quality bag at a reasonable price point. I highly recommend it with 2 Thumbs up!!

good entry level bag
trying to buy my first real backpacking sleeping bag without busting the bank. this one seemed good for the money. its light, fluffy, and warm and compresses down pretty well. but i didnt like the material or how black it all is. the material seems like it would be sticky in moist conditions and when you are oily and or been sweaty. and i felt like i couldnt find anything because of the color. i see why a lot of bags are brightly colored now. all in all though its a good starter for the money but i sent mine back right away after opening it. unfortunately it just wasnt vibing with me. oh also the material is tender so if you get it just be easy on the unzipping and zipping and tightening tension strings. it seems it could rip easily if you are careless.

Super warm and easy to pack
If you're like me, then you get cold easily so I very much appreciate how warm and comfortable this sleeping bag is. My other sleeping bag is smaller and thinner so I definitely plan to use this one when I need extra warmth. I don't remember the actual weight but it feels light to carry, which I also like. It's a bit more clunky but it's part of what you get for what feels like very comfortable and warm covering and support. The price is competitive for the quality and it's easy to pack back into its designated sack.

The good is that it keeps you nice and warm, the bad is it keeps you nice and cold
First we will get the weight out of the way. It is a very lightweight sleeping bag. And for the temperature rating, probably lighter than my 60 degree bag.Does it keep you warm. On the beach, in about 40 degree weather, it kept me nice and warm. Too warm in fact, which brings up why it's 3 stars and not 5 stars. There is little to no breathability in this sleeping bag. It does keep the heat in. But I was finding that I was getting up in the middle of the night, because I was getting cold. And it wasn't because of the outside temperature. It was because there was no airflow in the sleeping bag, that I was getting cold from my own sweat. Air or liquids won't penetrate this sleeping bag material, outside or in. I think one review said it perfectly, it's like you are sleeping in an insulated trash bag.And it's too bad, because the temp rating, weight, and just warmth is perfect. But the material of the bag itself and complete lack of breathability makes it uncomfortable to use. I'm half tempted to buy a cheap poly filled sleeping bag, and take out the guts and replace with the feathers in this bag.

Light bag that is fine for backpacking.
Good sleeping bag that is fairly lightweight and packs down small enough to actually fit into the space on my backpacking pack that is meant for a sleeping bag. Most other options were too big for the pack or too heavy for backpacking. Took a couple nights to really get used to the inside of the bag, which is the same material as the outside. Only issues I had on a 3 night backpacking trip was that the bag slid off of my sleeping pad pretty easy so I had to be sure I slept on level ground and the bag was probably a little warm for the place we went. Also, I’m only 6’2” tall but the bag is borderline too short for me. I wouldn’t want to be any taller at all for sure if I was going to use this multiple nights in cold weather. To be honest it looks like the material would rip easily but I had no issues with that at all and I’m not the most careful with stuff while backpacking.Overall this bag met my needs just fine, big improvement over the synthetic filled bag it replaced for sure.

Tight fit, sticky zippers, not warm
The bag was light. That was the only thing I liked about it. The fit is tight which would be alright if the zipper didn't stick. My first night in this bag was spent in Allagash Me. in mid June. The temps got down to freezing overnight and the bag was not warm. I opted for getting out of the bag and sleeping by the fire outside of the tent. This is probably an okay bag if temps stay above 50 F.
