Very quiet computer fans
I bought these fans to replace noisy fans on aquarium lights (Coralife lights). They were fairly inexpensive. QUIET, very quiet. I can barely hear them.I did not use the included rubber mounting system - which would probably make them totally silent. Very happy with these fans - even though they are not in a PC.

good while it lasted
Have owned this for a little more than a year. At first very happy. So quiet I had to look to see if it was on. But the fan is now dead. Would have paid more for something that just worked 3-4 years.

Became noisy after 2 months
I installed this fan with a horizontal orientation on a chipset heatsink. The bearings became noisy after two months of operation with a variable voltage fan controller. Not recommended.

Rubber fan mounts turned to jelly, short life
Rubber fan mounts turned to jelly. I opened the computer case and found the fan lying on the bottom. Sometime short of 3 years the fan seized up and stopped turning. Very quiet when new, but lacking in longevity.

Ventilation for Nature's Head
The Nature's Head (toilet) is installed in our boat. Ours was an early issue and came with sleeved 40X10mm fan which became noisy after a short time. The SilenX Ixtrema Pro 40mm x 10mm 14dBA 5 cfm Fan was chosen to be the replacement. It runs 24X7. I think there is about a year on it now and it's beginning to be louder. In our installation I'm concerned about longevity and quiet. So I'll be trying out other 40X10 fans.We also use the 40X10 fan in our boat's 12v fridge. Hooked up to the compressor run terminals to help even the cooling inside the box.
