Book is used but in good shape

If people expect to be amused by The Beano, you are mistaken. Comics in England are not written for their humor so much as they are for getting to know the characters and traits, in addition to the excellent illustrations. So, if you are American, you may not find the comic strips funny, but The Beano is a true classic that has outlasted many many other comics and continues to be one of the best selling comics today! I have most of the Annuals and live them. I've been a Beani fan since a small child in England.

Maybe it is a cultural thing, but, I don't get over 85% of the "jokes" in this book, nor do I find the stories amusing or entertaining. My daughter seems to be amused by it but then, she likes it because of the pictures probably. Really baffling to me why this is considered so funny in the UK. I thought I liked British humor based on the fact that I laugh out loud when reading Douglas Adam's stories (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, etc..) but I guess that DA is not representative, or is Beano just unfunny to Americans?

I started buying the Beano and Dandy annuals each Christmas for my son from 2012 and he loves them so much I decided to try and source all of them going back to when he was born in 2004. I've given up looking in charity shops as I haven't yet found a single one in any of them.For some reason I hadn't thought to look on Amazon but when I did I was surprised to see them available at such a cheap price. I've bought a fair few now and the quality of these second hand annuals has been consistently good. One or two have had some drawing in them (puzzle page), despite the listing saying they are unmarked but really, this hasn't been a problem.Needless to say the content is fantastic and I've enjoyed a good read myself!I now have the final batch of six from 2002, 2003 and 2004 stashed away ready to give him at Christmas and so he'll have every one thats been published since he was born. I wonder when he'll tell me to stop?Absolutely recommended.

What's not to like? It's the Beano Annual!
