good idea poor construction
I really liked the idea. I was a little disconcerted when a washer showed up unexpectedly when I first loaded it with peppercorns and there was no explanation for it. It worked great for the first couple of weeks, until I loaded it up again. The upper and lower portions are separated by a piece of acrylic, and it cross-threaded when I reassembled it. It still worked, but I was concerned that the washer was behind it. On the third attempt to reload, the acrylic portion broke off in the threads. All I wanted was a device that could grind peppercorns and this one was SO close to everything I could have wanted. Ease of use, a visual window to see if you needed to reload, a mill style grinder, and very nice design. In the end, I think the manufacture outside of the US was the ultimate failure. Putting profit before quality certainty seems to be the end of us as a nation. But this product is certainly well thought out and we'll designed. I think next time I'll look for a mill that will last for at least a generation, not a Month.

A great add on to you table, but not for real life use in kitchen.
I tried this grinder for few days and found it not as useful due to various reasons. sorry, had to return it.Cons -1 - It can hold only a few grams on pepper (10 grams), being said that i need to have it refilled every 1-2 weeks.2 - The transparent part in the middle will get dusty in few 2 days and is going to get worst not better. Pepper dust will cover it, limiting your ability to see it level clearly.3 - The transparent part is actually a plastic piece and can not be cleared with cloth or tissue.Pros -1 - The body is solid steel and heavy built, Wife can hit you badly if you do not appreciate the food.2 - Great if your use is only little for garnishing, else you will have a strain in your Thumb.3 - Works as defined, I found it easy to operate with one hand, thought my wife was not.In Crux - Good piece of decoration and a great add on to you table. Real life use in Kitchen is not what this is made for.

Great for small amounts
I was looking for one of these since during cooking it is hard sometimes to use 2 hands just for fresh pepper. I like that this is nice and small for the kitchen. It works great for one-handed pepper if you just need like one or two dashes for one serving. , What I don't like is that it seems like I have to press it a many times for the amount of pepper I need while cooking for the family. So, my one hand gets tired out from pressing a lot that were times I've had to start pressing with both hands which defeated the purpose of this. It is just a bit too hard to press for me to do it over and over. 2 - 3 times is fine, if you need larger amounts it gets tough to use.

bottom line like it - some factors i hadn't considered before purchasing
this is the first pepper grinder of this style that i've had so perhaps what i see as mild negatives are just typical of the style. it looks great and i like the small footprint. it's a little hard for me to use it one handed - my thumb muscles aren't quite up to it - so i've adopted a 2-handed approach that's fast and easy. maybe the grinder part isn't sharp enough? or i have weak thumbs? :-) the cavity where you put peppercorns isn't very large so it has to be refilled perhaps a little more often than i'd like. and, as you'd expect with such a slim grinder, it's hard to pour peppercorns into the small opening without them escaping and bouncing all over the kitchen. still i'm happy with it!

Arrived Broken and has a plastic interior, not exactly what I thought!
Not sure why this product is getting all the 4 and 5 star reviews, this mill arrived broken, the center rod slipped out. What's worse than that is it exposed the interior cylinder which by the way is made of plastic and starts a full inch or so lower from the top of the mill, you can see for yourself in the photo I am providing. You think by looking and holding the mill it's solid metal but it's not, it's mostly plastic and won't hold as much as you would think. I ordered a pepper and a salt mill, not sure why the price difference looks and feels the same. The salt mills button would only press down if the tube under the button aligned up with the hole it is intended to move through, very poorly constructed. Sorry I invested in these mills, back to the drawing board! My opinion, don't waste your money.

Great for Table Use
This clever little pepper mill grinder does a great job for table use. It grinds the pepper to a fine texture (which is not adjustable), takes up minimal space on the table, and is relatively easy to use. The pump which is operated by your thumb could be a bit of a problem for anyone with arthritis, especially if you like to add a lot of pepper to your food. It can also be operated with your hand, however, if that's a problem, though it's less convenient and somewhat awkward to do so. I like to add quite a bit of coarser ground pepper while cooking and this isn't very convenient for that, so if that is part of your criteria I'd recommend a more conventional mill.

don't believe the hype
I bought this upon reading the orgasmic reviews for this product. I returned it the next day, and did not have the expected orgasm of other reviewers by using it "one-handed".I bought this at regular price (18.95) and I have not been asked to review it to get it at a discount.I did NOT like it because:1/ item seemed useless: one would have to press at least 6 times to get some dust of pepper. It is a small and easy to store paper weight maybe2/ the metal bar that grinds the pepper was not aligned to the opening at the bottom of the grinder: large pepper seeds escaped untouched3/ it had an odd smell to it (the "smell" of metal combined with grease?). Uncomfortable to use it not knowing if grease will also get in my mealI tried to use this with Tellicherry pepper.UPDATE:the manufacturer (Co-Founder - Alpha Armour) contacted me by email initially saying that the item I bought was not an original alpha armour. After checking my order, the manufacturer followed up confirming that indeed the product I got was the original. They also told me they will contact manufacturing to make sure they eliminate this issues on future products.I am impressed by the fact the manufacturer acknowledged their product had an issue they needed to address and their honesty is something to be noted.
