Lazer Neon Helmet: Red/White; One Size (53-61cm)

While the helmet fits well for a lower priced model there are a few flaws in the design. I had two Lazer Neon helmets and both had construction issues. If you save your receipt - the company is responsive with refund/exchange requests. Here's the issue: The front band of the helmet is secured into the styrofoam material with a little plastic nub. In both helmets - that nub came out within 4 months of owning the helmet. This is just everyday commute use - no crashes. In the second helmet I had, I was able to snap it back in (i don't know if that would be safe during a crash) but then the metal tightening wire broke as well. Lastly, for some reason the chin strap gets loose when you ride - it's important that you tighten it every time or else the helmet could come off.

Recently I purchased this helmet in conjunction with a Giant Rapid 3. Both are great entry level casual gear without the impact on your wallet as high end gear.The helmet works very well and is adjustable, via the red turning knob on top of the helmet. It fits great. The padding on the inside of the helmet can be removed and replaced when worn out. The straps are comfortable and the back straps go through a portion of the adjustable wire housing the surrounds your head inside the helmet. The wire inside the helmet is housed in plastic and covered with replaceable paddingComfort 10Style 7Protection 10Yesterday I had an accident while going down a long -20 degree grade, tire slipped on wet leaves, the bike went out from under me and I went down face first. Didn't even have enough time to react to the bike going out from under me. The right side of my face is bruised and scratched up but the helmet got the worst of the impact. The helmet cracked due to the impact with the pavement. The helmet did not move around on my head during the impact. The inner wire, that is covered and goes around your head, held firm keeping the helmet in place. I have bruising on my forehead from where the inner, plastic and padded, housed wire surrounds the front of your skull. Thanks to this helmet I was able to walk away from the accident.Without intending to I tested this helmet in a (min 20 max 25 mph) impact. The helmet cannot be reused but was well worth the cost.
