I used the first two Spanish Pimsleur courses (~2 months, total) and now I understand Spanish much better than I understand French, even though I took French for three years in high school. The only major problem is that these courses are definitely biased towards male speakers. In the practice conversations, they usually ask you to play the role of a man talking to a woman and the conversations can get a little...weird. I commute a lot and the 30-minute lessons are very convenient and make the time go by. Nevertheless, any language learning requires commitment and work and this is no different. At the end of the 30 lessons, you will be able to carry on a conversation about some very basic things like directions, food, arriving and leaving, finding a restroom and most important, where to buy coffee.

Great way to improve you speaking skills
Great way to improve you speaking skills. I understand a lot of Portuguese but was uncomfortable speaking out loud, this made me feel way more confident! i definitely recommend it.

the Pimsleur Method works great for me
Although I am not primarily an auditory person, the Pimsleur Method works great for me. I'm learning Portuguese as I drive my car (please note I live in a small rural area). Obrigada.
