Can you use carbolic soap on your hair

Personally, I wouldn't. I would think it too harsh for use as a shampoo.

Is this soap safe? is it made with Phenol?

Hi there,Please note that Phenols are widely used in household products and as intermediates for industrial synthesis. For example, phenol is used (in low concentrations) as a disinfectant in household cleaners and in mouthwash. In the case of carbolic soaps it is used to "activate" carboxylic acids or esters to form activated esters. Phenol has been used for many, many years. It has been several years since I ordered this. If I remember correctly, it was not like the LifeBouy soap from my childhood. It was somewhat harsh and did not smell as nice.
