Great product that works well on a glass stovetop
I wasn’t sure what to expect since I’d never made takoyaki before, but this pan made it surprisingly easy and really fun. I used it on my glass stovetop (not a butane stove), and it has worked perfectly so far. The heat was even, and the batter cooked up nicely without sticking.The pan itself feels solid and well-made. The non-stick coating really does its job — I didn’t have any issues flipping the balls once they started to set, and cleanup was super quick.It’s a great way to bring a bit of Japanese street food into your own kitchen! You do have to try out a few batches to get your heat settings dialed in, but right now I’m just looking for excuses to use it again. Octopus, sausage, cheese — I've been experimenting a bit, and everything's turned out great so far.Definitely recommend if you’re into trying new things, the possibilities with takoyaki are endless! I'd recommend using cake flour in your batter as well as some dashi powder!

Works well on gas stove
We love this for making takoyaki as well as vegetarian takoyaki with mushrooms. It's easier than we'd initially thought. This unit is advertised for a specific counter top stove, but it works perfectly well on any gas stove top. I do have concerns regarding how well it would work on an electric stove though. Another plus is that it's quite easy to clean.

Decent product
I used cheap electric plate before I try this.This one gives me better experience overall.Size of the ball is good. Durable. Don’t give me weird taste.Cooking time etc are totally fine.Good for price.

nice takoyaki pan
This pan is good to cook takoyaki, it is a great product , but the pan I receive seem like it is refurbished, because there are some minor scratches at the bottom of the pan, although it didn't affect cooking the food and I am fine with it. That's why I give a 4 start instead of 5 stars.

Love it so much!
It works pretty well on my gas stove. Easy to clean. The Takoyaki mixture gets well distributed. The divisions make it easier to divide each ball. Plus is made in Japan. Brings back good memories...

Nice! A great addition to my kitchen warfare tools!
I've made several batches of takoyaki now. This is much better (and proper) way of making takoyaki, as opposed to what I was doing prior, which is improvising using a cakepop maker. The takoyaki pan has grooves running up and down and laterally between the takoyaki chambers, so after pouring the batter, just trace using a bamboo stick or takoyaki poker to divide the batter, just jam it in that notch and trace. So easy! And no doubting yourself whether or not one takoyaki had more batter than the one next to it. I also like the sturdy construction of this takoyaki pan. It's built to last.Sometimes good octopus and fresh octopus is not easy to get in Los Angeles. I pulled from the takoyaki Git repository and made a fork to the default recipe, replacing octupus with BACON. I call this creation BACOYAKI. What you do is this, cut a couple of bacon strips into good bite sizes. Then, before adding any batter, place a bacon chunk into each takoyaki (bacoyaki?) chamber. Let each bacon piece cook somewhat, but not too much, just enough to develop some color. If a piece of bacon is exceedingly fatty, soak it up using some kitchen paper. At this point go ahead and pour the batter as you normally would, and make the BACOYAKI as you normally would. Enjoy!!!

When ordering, make sure to order the item marked as "IWATANI TAKOYAKI Grill pan cooking plate CB-P-TAF by Iwatani : Sold by Tokyo Wind and Fulfilled by Amazon."At 8-inch x 8-inch (8 x 10 inches including handles) and 1.65 lb, it has a sold feel, very similar to waffle maker.Diameter of the hole is approx. 1 and 5/8 inches / 40 mm.Here is the list of features I like about this Takoyaki grill pan.The 4 notches on the bottom corners align with the gas burner grate for secure placement.The 8 mm lip on the surface helps prevent batter spills.Easy clean and use, non-stick surface. (Be sure to use non-abrasive utensils)The ridge details between the holes simplifies the task of separating batters.Note: Mine didn't come with English instructions. The instructions and batter recipe are printed on the back of the product box in Japanese. (See photo).You can use pancake/waffle batter on this, too!
