Propagating Plants: How to Create New Plants for Free

What a wonderful, informative book. I wish I had found it earlier in my gardening years, it would've saved me so much money, time and disappointment!

I am trying to make extra money by propogating plants from my garden, and this book is showing me how to do that! Lots of pictures and explanations for nearly every kind of plant you can think of. I'm really learning a ton about plant reproduction and the various ways that you can clone plants, etc.

Great book for any age - got this as a present for a young girl who wanted to learn the basics of gardening! Definitely does a great job providing best timing of planting and insight on characteristics

I've tried a few different techniques to propagate more plants, but with mixed success and based more on the vigor of the plant and luck than my knowledge or ability. This plant expanded my knowledge of taking cutting and layering, and introduced me to several other techniques. The individual plant suggestions are a helpful boost of confidence for plants that aren't as commonly propagated in the home garden.I gave the book 4 stars not for the content, but for the print. I'm an avid reader with light reading glasses and a good lamp by my chair, but the print was smaller than I'm accustomed to throughout and made the reading a challenge. It might be better if only reading a page or two to look something up in the future, but it was honestly a challenging read through the first time. It's almost as if the publisher adapted this from a larger format book. If the publisher is reading, this book would be much more useful if the entire thing was larger.

If you garden like I do you are always trying to find ways to increase the number of plants that are successful in your garden without directly purchasing the plant again. This book discusses and shows you how to propagate a huge variety of plants, including houseplants, perennials, shrubs trees and bulbs. Each plant type is sorted by genera so it's easy to find almost every kind of plant and determine which propagation methods will work best for each species. Well written and clear instructions too.

This book has everything you need to teach you how to do cuttings and propagating plants. It is concise and easy to read. I got it out of the library last year and decided I would like to own it. I look at it on occasion and it has been helpful in propagating new plants.

Very informative book. Lots of detailed photos and information. The book is a little on the pricy side but it covers all types of plants and how to properly maintain and propagate them. Highly recommend this book for both beginners and experienced gardening. I've been growing plants for 20 years and this book is one of the best I've purchased by far. I purchased it for my daughter who learns better from reading and pictures than hands on. She absolutely loves this book and it's helped her gain confidence in propagating her orchids.
