These are a great idea and feel sturdy in their construction. However, an item is only ever as strong as its weakest component!The exact same problem happened on the very first use with two of them, and I haven’t even tried the others. First, the spring-loaded centering sleeve jammed in a retracted position. This is because the spring slipped over the end it is supposed to push against, and wedged between the sleeve and the outer casing.Then, when I unscrewed the outer casing to see what had happened and try to fix it, pulling the spring back over the end of the sleeve pulled off the tiny circular split washer designed to retain the sleeve within the casing. This tiny component pinged off onto the floor, never to be seen again.This means that even if I find a way to stop the spring riding up over the retractable sleeve, the sleeve itself simply falls out of the casing because the retaining washer is lost.Fully expect this to happen to the remaining two drill bits. Avoid.

The drills that these come in are too big for the majority of hing screws. OK to spot but not drill.If you want to replace with a smaller drill, the majority or pilot drills will be too small.No champher on the positioning so doesn't fit nicely in the counter sink.Can use, but save yourself some trouble and get something that will make it easier.

Used two of these and the sliding sleeve does not return, You have to pull them back out with a pair of pliers as they jam up. Just poor quality machining in production.

Used as guide to drill a hole into a broken bolt, lodged in a motorcycle crankcase.Some adapting was required. Used just the guide section In the end with a cobalt drill bit Worked a treat!

All 4 broke during one day swinging 5 doors.They’re good until they get sawdust in and get stuck or until a spring falls out or until the drill bit snaps whilst drilling into softwood.Will have to find a more expensive set that has a bit of quality.

For the price they are great. As a tradesmen who sometimes needs them they are perfect. Seem good quality for the price. Work well + does the job,most proberly even better with a extra sharpen(the more you pay the sharper things like these come straight out of the box)
