Beautiful addition to my 29 gallon tank!!!
I ordered this light for my 29 gallon tank. I have a rimmed aquarium with a glass lid. The legs on the light have an option for rimmed aquariums and non-rimmed aquariums. The rim on my aquarium isnt more than 3/4 of an inch but the glass lid I have prohibits the lights to be secured properly using the screws that come with the light. When I tried to use the non-rimmed version of the legs, it seems a little unstable because it just sat on the rim, with nothing to stabilize it. So I used the rimmed version of the legs, even though they arent properly attached due to my lid, this seemed to be the most stable. My glass lid may be too thick for this lighting unit so I would be aware of how thick your lid is. I have the Aqueon 30x12 hinged glass lid. I'm making it work for now until I figure out how to further secure the light. With that being said, the light itself is amazing!! I love how it gives my aquarium a 24 hour lighting scheme. It comes with a programmed 24 hour scheme but you can customize the lights with the remote. There are endless possibilities with how you set up your 24 hour lighting scheme. Which is so cool! The only function I'm not a fan of is the lightening function. It's like a strobe light and it freaks my fish out. It's a cool concept but I'm not 100% sold on that feature just yet. The lights take my aquarium up a notch because it really accentuates the features of my tank scape. I love how I can have this unit on all day and it gradually changes lighting. It really is such a cool addition. My plants have appreciated this lighting unit, they are flourishing and look better than ever! I was having problems with them looking "sad" but with this lighting and some seachem fertilizers, they are looking better everyday! I'm very very happy about that!! Ive also noticed that my fish are looking more vibrant! I have angelfish and tiger barbs (I know they shouldnt go together but I've had them for 3 months together and have seen no problems with fin nipping. Actually my angelfish seems to boss the barbs around LOL) My albino bristlenose pleco is also out a lot more! He was always hidden during the day and I would only see him at the dead of night. I'm aware plecos are nocturnal, but he seems to love the lights because he's out a lot more! I catch him suckling on the driftwood during the day and I'm very happy he feels comfortable. Im over the moon with how happy my fish are with their new, realistic lighting! I have my aquarium in my room and I have noticed that the temperature in my room has increased just a tad bit. I'm not sure if it's the 2 filters I'm running (1 in new), my television or any other electronics but I wanted to note that this lighting unit does produce some heat throughout the room its located. It's not a huge deal but some may be bothered by it. Overall, purchase it! Its lovely. My fish and plants look great and I'm 100% happy with this purchase.

Great light v2.0
Finnex listened to the customers. The newer v2.0 fixes everything that was wrong with the first version. The LED is protected from water, the power supply is made of better material, and the light is now fully CC like the CC model. The only difference is the wavelength of the red light is not at 660nm. When you make a custom 24/7 setting, each up and down does a 10% change according to the manual. This is sometimes still not good enough. Because early in the morning or late at night you may want to adjust the white light to just 2-3% because 10% is too bright. I found that by holding down the button you can get less than 10% brightness but you have to be quick to release it before it hits zero. This took a few tries. In the future I hope they will make a bluetooth remote/app similar to the Fluval 3.0, so that you can adust the light parameters to within 1% if you wanted. I own both lights, and I like the Fluval app for adjusting settings, but the Finnex offers way more settings and times that can be adjusted. I also like the feet of the Finnex better, it puts the light higher above the tank and allow for more of the tank to be lit up!!! I bought the 48" version and have it over 2 20g tanks that are side by side. I use the custom 24/7 mode and love it. I also like that you can have it completely off for some of the night and blue light only (moon light )when you want.

Great auto-light, but wish I'd known custom settings ramp in 3-hour increments
I got the 48-inch “Finnex Kl-C48A Planted+ 24/7 Led V2 with controller” last week for a 4’ (55g) low-tech aquascaped tank. I had previously used the 36-inch “Current USA Satellite Freshwater LED Plus,” which is very similar except it doesn’t have a 24-hour cycle. With the Current, you have to choose the setting, and it stays there until you change it. By comparison, the Finnex comes with a 24-hour cycle that goes sunrise-bright light-sunset-moonlight. You can also program your own 24-hour cycle, including total darkness for certain periods. The Finnex appears very well-made, the light responds perfectly to the remote, and the light quality is excellent. The light easily reaches to the bottom of my 26-inch deep tank, more than enough to grow medium-light plants. However, I do find both auto and manual 24-hour cycles to be a pain. When I bought this I thought I could program one hour at a time, with 1-hour sunrises & sunsets, and moonlight for maybe a hour, too. But in reality, this item only lets you specify what the light should look like every 3 hours (6 a.m., 9 a.m., etc.)…. and the light ramps between those settings automatically. If you want a sunrise—either the auto-24-cycle or manual, it MUST be a 3-hour one… and a 3-hour sunset too. In fact, since I got this light, I’ve never seen my tank in daylight—it’s perpetually a harsh orange/red “sunrise” or “sunset” during the hours I’m home. The auto cycle also has blue “moonlight” on most or all of the night, which I think the fish might find annoying. I would happily buy this light again and would recommend it as far as quality and output. However, I think it could be greatly improved by allowing programming for each hour, not in 3-hour blocks. As it is, I’m going to use my own custom cycle from now on and skip sunrise/sunset/moonlight entirely. Update: I ended up buying an $8 timer and plugging the Finnex into that. I now just have it on full for 7 hours a day, so I'm not using any of the programmable features at all. Nice to know they're there for the future though.

Great Light, Cool Functions
The light is very nice, but I'm new to aquarium lighting but really love the functions.. The lightning effect is really just like a strobe light, but the colors are so fun. With this second version you can change the colors up for your times and do a custom 24/7, which makes it really fun to play with.. I wanted more light down time, so I was able to do that with this light.. I made a cool orange sunrise with a cooler blueish/purple like sunset.. The remote is a bit clunky to use and honestly could be simplified a bit.. Press this, wait for blinking lights, press that.. If you lose the instructions that could be bad if you wanted to try different functions out over time. I'm sure one is a available online somewhere.. My plants are doing great with this light but with more light I have to supplement more Seachem Excel for bio carbon.. I do not have a C02 setup so using Excel keeps the algae at bay. My snails dont seen to mind the uptick in algae I do have nor do my numerous shrimp that continue to multiply. The blueish purple makes the red POP, and looks amazing!

Useless Garbage
I didn't listen to the other reviews. Almost exactly one year ago I wanted a better light for my 75 gallon planted tank and came across this product. It was pricey and some of the reviews said it had stopped working after a while, but I took the gamble anyway. I loved the 24/7 setting and my plants did very well under the bright LED lights. However, about a month ago my troubles began. I noticed that instead of the bright white daylight that was supposed to be displayed around noon, the light looked as though it was going through the reddish/purple sunset display. I figured it was just an issue with the 24/7 setting and tried to correct it with the remote. However, when I tried to put it on the brightest setting, the white LEDs seemed unresponsive and only the red and yellow LEDs were lit up. I tried unplugging the light, changing the batteries in the remote and pressing just about every single setting on the remote. Nothing worked. I removed the light and replaced it with my old fluorescent setup that I had in storage. The Finnex is now completely unresponsive to the remote, as if all of the LEDs have died. The warranty on their website says it's only good for 6 months. My light stopped working after 11 months. I regret wasting my money on this product, and hope I can at least help someone else avoid the same fate by writing this review.

Great quality LED light. Very easy setup.
I ordered this product a day ago because the light that I initially purchased with my 30 Gallon aquarium was not strong enough to support some of the plants I was trying to grow at the bottom of my tank (24 inches high). I purchased this Finnex light on word of mouth from a co-worker. The light arrived today and there is a noticeable improvement in not just the tank lighting, but also in how my fish behave. My Tetras are swimming around the water much more confidently. I was a bit worried that the feet would not fit around the plastic rim at the top of my aquarium, but that was no issue. The inner plastic bit for the feet is removable allowing the feet to rest on top of the rim. Programming the light was very easy. There are 8 time of day settings and the 24/7 cycle can be set with 3 button presses on the remote (batteries were included). Additionally there are 3 weather patterns you can change to on the fly as well as the nighttime setting. 4 additional button can be programmed with your own custom lighting, but for me the built in 24/7 cycle is exactly what I wanted. The power brick is a bit larger and goes to the side. It took a bit of re-working my power strip to accommodate it so be aware of that if purchasing. After seeing my tank lit up with this light there is no chance I will be buying anymore of the black plastic hoods with the cheapo LED light strips that I previously bought. I will be buying a Finnex for my next aquarium.

fantastic for low to moderate light planted tanks
I have been using these lights for two years now. I have them on 6 tanks. I have heavily planted low Ted tanks, and these lights are beautiful and have worked well. I have not had problems with the remotes as others have noted. one issue I have encountered is that when I have unplugged a light for some reason, at times they have not immediately turned back on when plugged in again. I panicked the first two times, but the lights seemed to need time to reset or something, because after ten minutes or so they turned back on. Full disclosure, I did have to replace one light after a power surge blew several lights. Despite being plugged into a surge protector we had to replace the funnel and a plant light. I have NOT used the customization feature, I like the 24 hour pre programmed lights, and have mostly used that. Set and forget, just adjusting the time during clock changes or after power outages. Algea growth has not been an issue after a brief adjustment period. THey create a pretty display and my fish like it.

Amazing light
So I don't usually leave reviews on products I buy through amazon. However, I feel like I need to. If you're on the line about this light, don't be. Buy it, it's amazing. It's a great price for an exceptional item. I've only had this light for ~2 weeks, and I had a cheapo Chinese one before. I've noticed very noticeable growth compared to the cheapo one. I do also use CO2 and dose fertalizers, but I did before. It's a very attractive and sleek look, and almost seems to complement the tank in it's beauty. It is very bright, and has many customizable options that you can save to the remote. I don't use the timer function because I use mechanical timers (help with CO2), but have heard it's nice. I would buy this light again, and probably will when I start a new tank. It's 100% worth the investment.

Broke within a month!
I absolutely loved this light in my tank! The colours and settings were beautiful and the plants in my tank have grown a lot stronger since having a timed light. But after about a month it stopped working completely! Absolutely gutted.

This was the version 2 version
I was happy with this purchase and even more so when I realised it was the version 2 model that you can reset the time and actually goes dark, instead of moonlight blue.

Simply do not buy this light
This light was ok for the first month then it started to lose its brightness and within 12 months stopped working all together. It's really not worth the money what so ever.

Altamente recomendable
La iluminación es perfecta para el acuario de 60 galones, ilumina cada espacio y lo mejor hay mejoría en el crecimiento de las plantas. El poder moderar las luces a nuestro albedrío es muy buena. Aunque la tengo programada 24/7. Altamente recomendable
