Mega Bloks Halo 10th Anniversary UNSC Shortsword 471 pcs Set

My 9 year old worked this one completely on his own, except for some of the large flat pieces on the wings that he couldn't press completely flat on his own. The ends of the wings were a bit troublesome for him as well since some of the pieces were held by only one little circle until the next layer on top helped secure them.Other than that, we had one piece missing but not a critical piece so we were able to complete it and wait for that part to be mailed from MegaBloks.Great ship when finished, very solid and very good looking.

This model is extremely solid when constructed. Only the orbital wing thrusters (the black things on the tip of the wings) have a "loose" feel after construction. The rest is rock solid.... easily on par with the Banshee. It's out of production now, so snap it up while you can. It's detailed, cool, and fills a void in the UNSC Mega Bloks arsenal. Construction time is about 4-5 hours for a meticulous, experienced builder. Stickers apply and hold well on this model. It's just a really cool model.

bought this kit for one of our grandsons for Christmas. I know nothing about the kind of toys children ask for these days. but if the boy wants it, Grandpa's gonna buy it for him! He wanted it, he will love it, and we loved making him happy!

Few blocks missing.

I ordered this for my son's 13th birthday. When he opened the box, it had already been opened and was partially assembled. Also, the parts had been taken out of their original packaging and put in ziplock bags. I am furious.

The more we see Lego imitators, the more I respect their advanced R & D.My son really wishes we would let him play Halo, so really wanted this when he saw it. It is pretty cool looking when built, but getting there is a huge challenge. Clearly Mega Bloks haven't gotten the exact right plastic formula down. While for the most part it doesn't spring apart again on its own (like we saw with  Space Shuttle 140 Piece Best Lock Construction Toy with Action Figure , as well as  Mega Bloks Halo Wars UNSC Scorpion ) it is extremely difficult to build. My husband (who ended up building it all) found that if you pushed really hard, they went together, and mostly stayed. The instructions are more complex than Lego, but understandable. That 8+ on this may be real, we pretty much ignore the Lego ages up to 14+.After such hard work at putting it together my son was really worried about it getting played with. Unfortunately he was correct. Demonstrating what might happen if it fell off the couch (1.5 feet, on to rug) one of the wheels snapped. Not off, but in half. Not exactly strong plastic here.To their credit mega blox lets you order replacements, but still rather alarming.*UPDATE* two months later we still don't have the replacement part ordered from Mega Blox, not sure if it will ever arrive.

My grandson's love of Lego products knows no bounds. The latest addition to his growing collection was a true hit and one that got opened right after cake & ice cream. A best-friend cousin and he were quiet and happy for quite a while. Always a sure hit!

Das war mal ein Versuch eine Alternative zu Lego zu etablieren. Meine Jungs (7 und 8) haben nun schon haufenweise Lego und ich wollte mir das hier auch mal ansehen, insbesondere wegen der alternativen Spielethemen. Die Steine passen aufeinander - auch auf die normalen Legos, die Verarbeitung ist gut und die Figuren sind von der Beweglichkeit besser als bei Lego. Zudem sind einige interessante Sonderteile dabei die es so nicht von Lego gibt (Flügel, Kanonen, Propeller). Allerdings ist die Bauanleitung extrem klein geraten was die Darstellungen angeht - für Kinder sehr schwer zu erkennen. Die Einfärbung der unterschiedlichen Bauschritte pro Abschnitt fand ich wiederum ganz gut, so wird kein Schritt übersehen. Die Jungs waren allerdings insgesamt nicht sooo begeistert. Also ab jetzt wieder LEgo Starwars.

My son was delighted with his new Shortsword Mega Bloks Playset. He is now quite skilled at building the Mega Bloks, but this still was an excellent challenge for his skills and he was surprised at how large it was, so he was very pleased about that. It had one small piece misssing but as it was not a vital part he was not too disappointed.Overall an excellent addition to his Mega Bloks HALO collection and very good value for money.

I'm honestly surprised at the quality and exposition value this thing has. I doubt that lego or even Mcfarlane could do a better job!

Bought as a Christmas present for my Grandson, kept him and his dad quiet for a few hours building it well detailed model. another for his collection

1st of all, Megablocks is inferior to Lego. I frerquently had some trouble putting the pieces together, although nothing too serious. This inferiority is though balanced out in the price, as I find Megablock products to be cheaper than Lego.The Shortsword is large and did take a considerable time to make but the end result was pleasing and sturdy. My sons dropped it a couple of times with minimal damage, lucky for them, because I had refused to re-make it if it broke.If your boys like spaceships (like mine) it is a good gift. otherwise I would not recommend it as it took too long to make.
