Helped me find some small leaks when installing a pioneer mini split system in our house. Easy to use and the case it comes in is nice and sturdy.

Good product, But does NOT detect 410A or R32

It does work pretty well. I have noticed that if you get too close to anything it will go off. There is also not any volume control and it beeps the entire time you’re using it. I have used this detector a few times now and it has done its job. I would recommend this as a starter tool or if you’re not going to use it often

Excellent tool and effective. cheaper on their website 10 percent coupon no tax free shipping so only 54 bucks total and it comes very fast but maybe not quite as fast as prime tho. I have been using elitech tools this season I totally love their SMG-1L it was 20 dollars cheaper on their site though. and i really just love them so far. This so far is my favorite leak detector. it doesnt make you wait to tare out or whatever you just turn it on and turn it off. Only downside is it does look a little silly and that silly noise. It doesnt look all expensive and high end but that dont matter to me at all because it works hands down the best so far. I have found a very lot of leaks even through walls with it extremely effectively. I treat it like a baby and take care of it. I keep it in the box and then keep it where nothing can even bump into it. Ya im overly caring of it but this one is a special very important tool that i have to rely on to not lie to me. If i have an evap coil leak i have to be certain and with this thing I feel 99 percent secure in my diagnosis. To be honest you can be hard on it too its very rugged and durable. HVACR tech 20 years i can tell you this is a well made tool despite being cheap and coming off a little goofy looking and sounding. Their digital gauges havent lied to me one bit either i know that the number it displays is 100% the number it really is.

I purchased this detector to follow behind my HVAC tech that was not able to locate a leak in my system. I decided to purchase the "Like New" option listed on Amazon. The unit arrived simply packed in a film bag. I assume the original box was not available. The meter is housed in an aluminum case. The poor packaging did not protect it very well. The plastic carrying case handle had popped loose and was floating around in the bag. The case was a bit dinged up. But all the items inside were still in tact with no damage. Being like new, it did still have all the items listed. Showed very little sign of use but it was used for sure, not just an open box item. I put it to work immediately. I was able to locate the leak rather quickly. The sensitivity does work. When set to high, it picked up the leak very quickly. When backed down to the low setting, it took a bit more precision to pinpoint the leak. Better built than I was expecting actually. For handy man use, it should be adequate given it has three spare tips. Hopefully new units are packaged better.Updated: 1/5/21HVAC tech came out today to find the actual leak in my system and his professional detector did not alarm in the same areas as this unit. Both alarmed at a known source (intentional leaked refig at valve). His did not alarm where mine did at the suspected leak point. His sensitivity was set to high and he had a new diode tip installed. So not sure if my detector was picking up something else in the area. Now not sure of the accuracy. May have reported false positive? I will have to find a known refig source later to test again. This was a returned unit so I may have received a defective unit.

My AC tech said my evaporator coil had a leak and he held up some random device he said was a coolant leak detector and showed me the "leak." To be honest the thing he had looked more like a voltage meter lol, but I'm also not really that handy when it comes to HVAC. I knew eventually I'd have to replace our AC systems but wasn't planning on doing it this soon.So I bought this thing and decided to check for a leak in the same spot after the tech was gone to see for myself if there really was a leak or if he was just BS'ing me. Nope - there really was a leak and this thing was super easy to use. I'm gonna keep it handy in case I have future problems or have an issue with the AC in our vehicles. A little pricey but worth it for the peace of mind that I wasn't being lied to by the mechanic.
