Useful product, or an ingenious delivery method for a scam??? <<<PLEASE SEE UPDATE BELOW>>>
This is my original 1 Star Review: Please see update to 5 Star below.I will never know if this product is of any value...I went to spray it in a new can of expensive varnish and it blew the "straw" right into the varnish.Thinking I must not have seated it fully into the spray head, I carefully inserted the second straw (CLUE) provided with the product. Although there wasn't much pressure released, it was still enough to dislodge the straw. The straw(s) are too small in diameter to remain in the spray head under flow.In addition, I am suspicious regarding the claims that this product will effectively sustain products for up to 75 applications. So I weighed the item prior to use and recorded the results. I will expend the contents and weigh the can. This will reveal the tare weight and thus determine if the the 12 grams of Argon as advertised ever existed in the can.I'm skeptical since this is a perfect delivery method for a scam. Bloxigen is selling you something that you (or at least most of you) will not be able to tell if you received it or not. The number of seller replies suggesting you may have gotten and empty can is cause for skepticism. If this is legit, a much better delivery method is sorely needed.UPDATE: I contacted IronWood Designs and received an immediate reply from the owner no less. He expressed concern with my review and asserted that he has for twenty years produced a quality product. He offered to replace the malfunctioned can plus a spare actuator and "straws". I received them in short order and they perform as expected. This is clearly one of those QC exceptions that can happen to any legitimate business. And I am a champion of small businesses...they always have to try harder. After talking with the owner, my suspicions regarding the performance of the product are likely unfounded...I expect time will bear this out. It is my intent to provide accurate, useful, insightful, reviews good or bad. I wish now I had reserved judgement and contacted the seller first. He made it right, and this is my effort to also make it right.

Works Under Laboratory Conditions, But Not in the Real World
I bought this, expecting it to be a miracle product that would keep my oil-based paints from skinning over in the can. I used it EXACTLY as instructed on the can, and it simply does not work; the paint in my gallon can skinned-over, like it always does, after just a day or two. The reason for this, I found out when I dug into their on-line videos, is that I (like every other person on the planet) return unused paint back to the gallon pail at the end of a painting session. From the video, it appears that the paint in your active painting pail absorbs oxygen as you are painting, and that oxygen will go ahead and cause the paint to skin-over in the gallon can, even if you use the Bloxygen. That left me more than just a little confused. The product is marketed on the basis that it helps you to conserve your paint by preventing it from skinning over, yet for it to actually work, you have to throw away all unused product in your painting pail at the end of your painting session, which creates both waste and a disposal problem all at the same time. Granted, if you know in advance that you are going to need exactly 12.75 ounces of paint to complete your current painting session, pour exactly 12.75 ounces of paint into your paint pail, use up all said paint, and treat the gallon container with Bloxygen (to prevent the oxygen in the air at the top of the can from contaminating the paint in the can), I am sure this product will work perfectly. However, I have never met a person who works in this fashion.

Have to give this product more time to properly evaluate
I have gone through three cans so far and the first ran out of sizzle after about four uses and the Company replaced it for me at no charge. the other two seem to seem to not last the 74 sprays that they claim but I was not counting. I like the concept and just ordered more. I have a summer home in Maine and I have left them in the garage where the temp last year went to 26 below zero so maybe that had something to do with it. this year I will bring them to a full time resident neighbor to keep for me. So the bottom line is that this evaluation is not totally fair as yet until I eliminate the frigid conditions that it underwent, I will keep using this product at least through the two cylinders that I have and see the results then.......Ed

Works well, but either can arrived almost empty or leaked out
When I received the Bloxygen I used it right away. After finishing some boards, I sprayed it into the polyurethane can and sealed it up. A week later I opened it and no problems with the finish. I used the poly again, and this time when I went to spray in the Bloxygen, nothing! I held my hand in front of the stem and could feel only the faintest wisp coming out, and that only lasted a few seconds. So either the can I got was almost empty when it arrived, or it somehow leaked out of the can as it sat for a week. Very disappointing. For the record, I know the can "feels" empty all the time. I've used this product many times before, this is my 3rd or 4th can of it, and I've never had this problem before.EDIT: Ordered another can and it did the same thing. Used it once, and a few days later the can didn’t do anything. Don’t know if it’s empty or what, but it’s now useless. I won’t be buying it again.

Bloxygen Prevented the Waste of Expensive Rubber Sealant
It worked! Used it to preserve a gallon can of rubber roofing sealant, which costs $60. The first gallon I bought formed a 2-inch thick layer of rubber on top a few days after I put the lid back on. The remaining liquid sealant under this mass of rubber was not enough so I bought another gallon. I used only one-third of the second gallon of sealant. This time, I squirted Bloxygen under the lifted lid, for about 5 seconds, then closed and sealed the lid. Came back a week later and opened the can to find absolutely no cured rubber on top. Loud cheers!Keep in mind that, when you receive a can of Bloxygen, it feels like the can is empty. The molecular weight of argon is about 40 while that of air is about 29 so argon will tend to settle below air in an undisturbed container and will not react with the paint or sealant you want to preserve.
