not for e6500
The caddy is pretty cheap, but then again the price was pretty cheap too. It is what I expected though, a piece of plastic with the correct dimensions for my hard drive with the correct connection to transition hard drive to bay connector for the E6500; with one exception, it doesn't fit the E6500 properly.Dell redesigned the edges for the e6500 from the e6400, so the front plate doesn't match properly to the E6500. I'm assuming it would match properly to the E6400 since I previously had one of those laptops and it looks to be the correct front plate. This is a purely cosmetic complaint, and unfortunately I haven't found an E6500 version anywhere on the pipes (dork humor for internet). The other issue is that the piece of plastic meant to allow you to pull the caddy out recesses too far in for the E6500 which results in not allowing you to push the caddy all the way in. Thankfully, this piece of plastic can be removed with a screwdriver, but then I don't think there will be anyway to get the caddy back out of the laptop. It will also be leaving an undesired gap that will aid in accumulating dust and other unwanted junk into the inside of that bay. The screw to mount the piece of plastic is right on the edge of where the plastic would need to be cut in order to get it to fit, so I'm not sure if that's going to be an option. I'm currently looking to see if I can transfer the ejector from my DVD caddy onto this new caddy, but if I can't, I may have to be returning this. You can find this type of caddy that has an ejector on Ebay. I recommend doing that instead of buying here.

Does what it's meant t do
Just as the subject said, came early which was a pleasant surprise (I got lucky with the us postal service as it wasn't supposed to come for at least another week) popped my SSD into the Recess on the caddy (it fit real snug in the recess so I didn't need to use the captive screws and driver included with the kit s that's another plus)My only gripe is, is I had to cut a small slot on the bottom front with my Dremel and a cutoff wheel so I can remove it when I need too. but oh well we can't have everything :)

Functional but lacking a few things...
I purchased this to install a 500 GB drive in my Dell Latitude E6500. The product will allow you to do this but does lack a few features which are not obvious in the product page.1: Lack of locking mechanism. If you are familiar with normal drives that dock with the E series Latitude laptops you know that have a clicking lock latch that can be screwed in to stay locked. This product lacks this which is annoying. Luckily it does seem to have the screw holes present for the locking mechanism so you can remove it from a non needed drive (in my case the CD ROM as a I had a DVD-R drive) and relocated on this.2: Beveled Facade missing. installing this will leave you will a flat surface over the drive bay that does not match the surface profile of the side of the laptop. This is strictly cosmetic but may matter for some. I did not mind it based on he price of this product.

Works in my laptop... lacks a handle for easy removal.
This caddy works very well with my laptop. My only problem with it is getting it out of the laptop after insertion. My removable optical drive has a spring loaded lever that pops out and acts as a handle to remove the drive. This caddy fits snug but lacks any easy removal options. I have to use something to pry it out of the laptop.Give me some type of handle for easy removal and the Caddy gets 5 Stars easy!

It's functional and cheap
This product works as stated, but it's just the tray. It doesn't have the latch that allows you to pull the tray back out of the laptop, so I have to get a pair of pliers if I want it to come out. It doesn't go into the laptop very easily. I had to try several times to align the tray with the laptop before it went in straight. I also had to push a little harder than I was comfortable with to get the tray to plug in to the laptop correct. I wanted something cheap to rescue a failed harddrive, so this worked for me. If you are looking for something to use more often, I would spend a little more and get a better try.

Sturdy, does the job well
I've worked in IT for a number of years, so believe me when I say this item works as expected. No issues relating to this hardware. Verified that it fits properly in an E6510. The caddy is easily removed when needed, but stays put otherwise.Interesting retention mechanism, would feel a bit better if there were screw holes to hold the disk in place. What else can I say? If you have the need for a second disk in your Dell Latitude E6xx0 or E43x0 laptop, this caddy should do the trick. :-)

If you look for a caddy for your Dell, this is not the best product
I was looking to install a second drive on my Dell Latitude E6510. I found this item on ebay and it looked like a good match. But the caddy is not as advertised, it is not for DELL, it is more a generic caddy. Why is it not a generic caddy for most Laptop but not DELL ?The Dell caddy has a lift to be taken out. This model has not. Therefore it can not be secured in the batThe dell caddy has a front black plastic panel. This model has not. Your dell will have a open bay.It fits well in the Dell like any other generic caddy but it is not a caddy made for a Dell Latitude. One more think, this model is very fragile and it was delivered in a small enveloppe. I should recommend a more robust package. My item was bent at delivery and returned. The service was very good with a very fast pay back.In conclusion, low price, medium quality, not made for a DELL LAtitude but it works.
