Amazing Value!
Wow. Just wow. I have used a cheapo $50 dollar android tablet for the past year, which I would give maybe 4 stars. It runs android OK, but has only 4gb of storage and half a gig of ram. Takes like a minute to start up and has a really bad screen. The HP Stream 7, on the other hand, has an EPIC screen. The only problem with it is the glare, which iPad's have as well. So I'll just list pro's and cons.Pros:1. Amazing Screen (resolution is as high as needed, it really is a good IPS screen)2. Amazing Speed (simply amazing, fast enough processor for a lot of windows programs, very responsive)3. Runs FULL windows 8.1, and includes free office and $25 windows store credit (I know windows seems like overkill for a tablet, but although I'm not a fan of windows 8 on my desktop, it is awesome on a tablet. Other the the lack of apps, I like it better than android or ios) Running windows also means it gets windows 10 upgrade free. (a real problem with android devices is updating)4. Storage. Even though windows takes up a lot, you get about 18gb free. This is really good for such a cheap tablet.Cons:1. RAM!! If only there was a 2gb option for ram, this would be a lot better. More ram would let this tablet become a true PC.2. Battery life. I guess it could be better. The main thing is that the description basically lies, this gets a solid 4 hours, but not even close to 8.3. Both camera's are so sad. The front facing one basically isn't a camera, more of a light sensor. The rear facing one works, but shouldn't really but used unless you have nothing else.4. As many reviewers have pointed out, the headphone jack has issues. However, this was actually not nearly as bad as I was expecting. You don't need to use Bluetooth headphones. Basically (at least on mine) there is a 50% change the buzzing sound starts, and it then ranges in volume from barely audible to annoying. However, the sound stops when you start playing sound through the tablet (at least in my case). So that's pretty much all.For 80 dollars, you can run windows, and run it well!

Excellent tablet, upgrading to 10 was easy and it's replaced my Nexus 7.
This thing just works, I don't know what to say. Unlike other people, the upgrade to Windows 10 was quick and easy, nothing bad happened at all. And addressing that "buzzing" sound from the headphone jack, I didn't even notice it at first. In fact, I thought the defect had been fixed until I actually noticed it one day. It's that subtle. The device runs great, especially with Windows 10. I was very concerned with the 1GB RAM, but it's actually not a problem at all. The system idles around a little over 600MB without anything open, and I don't notice any slowdown from swapping whatsoever when monotasking (which, let's face it, is all you're going to do on a tablet with a screen this small). Though, even with quite a few programs open (File Explorer, Edge, Gallery, Groove) the system still runs just fine. Playing a few games from the Store is also smooth as butter. So if you're concerned about the 1GB RAM as I was, don't be, it's perfectly usable. One complaint I have is how quickly the battery drains. It really does only last a few hours. And don't leave it unplugged overnight, you'll wake up with it dead. This is especially painful when you're about to leave your house and grab your Stream and then realize it's dead because you didn't leave it on the charger last night.Another complaint, with Windows 10 itself, is how specific you have to be with touch. Even in Universal (Store) programs, you have to be so precise with your touch. Mis-touching on this thing is a very common occurrence, and it usually takes me maybe 5-7 tries before I can pause music in VLC.My third problem is the cameras. The back camera isn't the world's best, but it works for my needs. It's useless in dim areas, so make sure you're in a well-lit area when using it. The front camera, oh boy, I swear the Game Boy Camera is better than this thing. When I first used it, the picture I took (In a well-lit area) looked like an oil painting! I'm not joking, I literally went to look in the camera settings to see if there was some kind of oil painting effect being applied to it (there wasn't). Don't expect to take selfies with this thing unless you want to take shots in the dark and use the back-facing camera on yourself. The front facing camera is a joke. That said, those are only minor complaints. The device itself runs fantastically and it's completely replaced my Nexus 7 (besides the above complaints). Having a small tablet I can fit in my pocket that's an x86 running a full Windows was a dream of mine since I was a child, and this is definitely a dream come true.
