Anchor HockingFire-King Pie Plate, Glass, 9-Inch

The 2 pie plates came triple wrapped, and nestled in a square box. This was very nice because I had recently purchased 3 Pyrex 9 in. pie plates from Amazon and they were just rolling back and forth in the long, rectangle box. I had also purchased 2 laundry bags in that order, which came in rectangle, plastic bags. Whoever boxed it put a Pyrex plate, a slippery, plastic laundry bag, another Pyrex plate, a laundry bag, a Pyrex plate on top with some scrunched up plastic,air filled 'thing' covering it. Luckily, nothing broke.I am only giving it 3 stars because I noticed something odd. I have a lot of Anchor Hocking & Pyrex products. Every piece I own has the appropriate markings on the bottom, even a tiny shot glass size measuring glass. These plates did not have the proper markings. They did have a paper stuck to the inside of the bowl with the Anchor Hocking logo. I noticed some other reviews mentioned the same findings. So, it leaves me to wonder.From what I understand these plates did not come from Amazon, but a vendor or outside source. I am annoyed to think that they are passing off generic products as Anchor Hocking. I know Amazon would not. I would buy generic if I wanted generic. I have Anchor Hocking & Pyrex pieces going back over 20 years that my children and I still use to cook & bake with. I trust those 2 brands. I saw generic pie plates for sale but I did not purchase those because I stick to brands that I trust.I figure 3 stars is generous, for now. They are pie plates, they do the job, but I am not sure they are the product that I ordered. I took pictures but I do not know how to post them on my review.

The pie dish was very nice however I ordered the wrong depth. My wife had wanted a 9" deep pie dish and I ordered a 9" regular depth!!! Should have let my wife order cause what do I know about pie dishes as I only eat the pie!!!

I previously had dropped and shattered my 65 year old Pyrex pie dish. I know I will never find anything that quality again so I bought one of these. To be honest, it works pretty well in comparison. I generally only make quiche with this plate and I find the width/depth to be just right. If you buy one of these and it doesn't have the Anchor Hocking (AH) branding don't worry - it is still AH. I personally contacted AH about it and they said that it is genuine even without the branding on the bottom. I knocked a star off because it doesn't sit perfectly level on a flat surface.

I love this pie plate. I make quiche in it about every week.

This plate is heavy duty and can withstand the high oven temps to bake a pie shell. It gives you a very crisp crust that can withstand any cream or merengue filling. Since it is glass I would lower my oven temp by 25 degrees next time because of the heat retention, but that was my fault and there was no harm done because I kept a good eye on it while it was baking. Other than that, I am very pleased with the product.

I broke my wife's glass pie pan, so I went to the store to replace it. The only glass pie pans on the shelf were Pyrex 9.5" pie pans with wide fluted edges. I bought one, but it was too large for our purposes. We like to use the ready-made pie crusts that we buy in the refrigerated section--the ones that come in a box and require unrolling. Those work better in a 9" pie pan.So I looked on Amazon and found these Anchor Hocking 9" pie pans. Perfect! Just the right size, and heavy, sturdy glass too.

What can I say - it's a glass pie dish which showed up unbroken -- even tho it was only in a shipping box with paper padding.

Have always loved this brand and couldn't believe I got it at this price!

What do you want me to say, it's a glass pie plate... it makes a great pie, 5 stars
