I ordered these to use for timed fluency reading & precision teaching. Typically, I use a time buzzer but it sounds too much like the fire drill. Also, I switched so the students won't play with the buzzer & set it off for kicks. They're student friendly & durable.

These are cute, and they arrived promptly, in good condition. I timed one of them, and it hit the minute mark. I use these, in various rooms, to time my handwashing. The problem is that they don't work consistently. Sometimes I flip them to start, get lathered up, and notice that the sand isn't dropping to the bottom. Once was disappointing, twice or more is just frustrating.
