This detailed figurine is carved from Sonoran Desert Ironwood, an extremely hard and heavy wood that is most difficult to carve. Our 5in Tall Kokopelli Hand-Carved North American Olneya Ironwood Figurine measures 7.5-inches high x 2.5-inches long x 2-inches wide x 1-inch deep (approximately). The precise measurements may be slightly different as each is hand crafted. This is a unique Southwestern Decor item made in North America. A joy to own or give as a gift, this authentic art piece is created in the Sonoran Desert from native Olneya ironwood by Sunland Artisans, a collaboration of nearby skilled artists. The amazing tree from which this item is crafted is a wonder of nature. Olneya Tesota, also known as ironwood, gets its name from its extreme hardness and weight. This wood is very difficult to work, but patient traditional artists from Northern Mexico carefully carve and etch this medium to reveal incredible detail. Subsequent sanding and polishing bring out the rich, deep grain and personality of the wood. The result is a very shiny and smooth hard finish remarkably achieved with no lacquer or varnish. This product is quite durable as well. Because of its great density, it is resistant to water, scratches and stains. This makes it easy to clean with a damp cloth. It can also be treated now and then with paste shoe polish and a light buffing to give this art piece a rich shine and bring out the intricate detail of the wood. Though each item is made from naturally fallen wood in Northern Mexico, this item ships from Southern Arizona, USA, exclusive home of the Ironwood Forest, America's largest concentration of Olneya Tesota trees. Contains the predominate color(s): Brown, Natural Wood.
