Q: Does the press arrive without a way to attach the handle to the press? (Mine did, but it also arrived without instructions.)

Mine came with a cotter pin and a set of instructions ( I think) which I didn’t read because I was thinking just put a big knot of the masa( dough) and flatten it. After I released the handle up after dusting both sides with a little flour so it wouldn’t stick, it immediately shrank to a little fat tortilla which was useless. I think I need to start the form with the press and roll out the rest to make it flatter and wider.
