Draw Me a Star (Paperstar Book)

I was so excited to find this book after my 5 year old asked me how to draw a star. I remember having this book as a child and learning how to draw a star from it. I still do them the same way to this day. Just keep an eye on them afterwards. He's drawing stars everywhere haha.

I had to see what could possibly be wrong with a book by this author. I bought it in support of being against banned books and cannot figure out what is questionable about this book. I am a retired teacher and very familiar with children’s books. I would have no problem reading this book to a child. (Or an adult).It is lovely book.

The artwork is pure Eric Carle. The story has just a small amount of text (perfect for little ones with a short attention span) to go with the pictures on each page. My only "beef" with this book is that the page that contains the artwork of "male and female" people will have to be "doctored" before I can read it to my class at school. Can you say anatomically correct? Yes, there's his parts hangin' (literally) right where they're supposed to be, and her parts, while a bit harder to see, are right there also. I'm going to punch some leaf shapes from paper and place them (like a bathing suit) over the people's "Private Parts".I was hoping to read tis to my class for "Space Week", but it will have to wait until next year.

My son (now age 3) has loved this book for 6 months, as have we. It is a sweet, unusual story illustrated in the same colorful, enchanting way that all of Eric Carle's books are. In looking at a few reviews by others I was floored to read that some took exception to the illustration of the nude couple or felt it necesitated a warning; my husband and I never thought twice about showing that image to our little son, and our son certainly isn't bothered by it in any way. In any event, I hope parents won't be too startled at the thought of a single page that containing discreet nudity to consider sharing this book with their children - it would be a terrible shame if they did. This is a delightful book for bedtime.

Quality as (or better) than described!

Eric Carle's books are favorites of my 2 grown sons, and now of my first grand child. "Draw Me A Star" is a simple story of art, hope and inspiration. I would love to have a print from this book to hang on my wall. It makes me happy and the book will make the adults and children in your lives happy as well. Enjoy all of his books, such treasures.

This is a really cute book, but be aware that the content may not be suitable for all children. I bought it to read to my preschool class and had to cover some of the art work.

I bought this when my daughter last year(2years old) and she loves it now! Perfect goodnight book or if your children like to draw!

Illustrations to draw a star is well explained for kids...!!

Incredible way to explain the genesis o creation for little ones! My 18 months old loves it as I do 😍 the illustrations are a piece of art 🖼 we never have in off of Eric carle 👏👏👏
