best mechanical pencil!
I'm a bit of a pen and pencil nut, have been since i was a kid. I've been into Pentel's for the most part, but saw this Rotring on a web page and googled it. I ended up getting it, honestly cause most who had it liked it and it was black and all metal. I received the pencil and it's now my #1, 2mm pencil, the weight is perfect, i like to feel like i'm holding something, not a feather weight pencil, yet it's not that heavy. The all metal shaft just gives it a solid feel, it does not have a sharpender in the cap, but anyone who uses 2mm probably already has a sharpener on hand anyways.

First rate writing instrument!
I have purchased a few Rotring 600 pencils (2mm, 0.7mm/pens 600 Rapid Pro) of late to support my burgeoning drawing habit. They are all excellent and just beg to be used. They are a little expensive, though. In fact, to see if I could get away with something a little cheaper, I bought an Ohto Super Promecha 0.5 the other day. Admittedly, this is a nice pencil with some cool features.Still, as nice as it is, it doesn't come close to the fit, finish, and feel of a Rotring. You get what you pay for.

A pencil sharpener in the cap would make it five stars
This is the second rOtring pencil I have purchased. Previously, I bought the RapidPRO in .5 mm. Due to the price difference, I purchased the rOtring 600 in 2 mm for drafting. The RapidPRO seems to be machined out of brass and has a really nice balanced weight. As far as, I can tell the 600 is cast aluminum. It's quite a bit lighter than the RapidPRO, but still have great balance. The RapidPRO seems to have a threaded joint, just behind the knurled grip which over time has developed the smallest amount of slop (probably due to me squeezing it too hard). The rOtring 600 seems to have been cast as one piece which I appreciate. The 2 mm lead is held very securely and the pencil is exceptional. I personally wish that rOtring would have included a lead sharpener in the cap like they do for the 2 mm RapidPRO. It's an awesome pencil, and a sharpener in the cap would make it a five star review.

Another good looking quality pen.
Nice to have a mechanical pencil that writes like a regular pencil

Relatively expensive disappointment
The 2mm rotring 600 costs about 4 times what the 2mm rotring 300 costs and for that extra cost you get no sharpener in the cap, no lead grade indicator, and the core is made of plastic. Other than the all-metal body there is really nothing about the 600 that is an improvent over either the 300 or the Rapid Pro.Overall I'd say go with the 300 instead.

Great tool
As always rotring makes some great pens and pencils. This is no different. I like to use this for note taking and rough mechanical drawing and I love it.

This does not feel like rotring quality.
The knurling feels completely wrong from the normal 600/800. It's chunky and rough and unpleasant. There's no pointer built into the cap, nor an eraser. The coating on the barrel doesn't even feel as nice as a normal 800The inner lead holding barrel (which has to tale the whole pressure of the pen) is plastic.Honestly? The knockoff, Pacific arc H-1309 is better in every way except that the clutch jaws can't hold the lead far enough back if you use one of the steadler rotary pointers to keep the very point clear (it's fine with the more normal pointers, the steadler just puts a very long taper on its points.) the pacific arc is all brass, feels weightier, including the brass lead sleeve inside, the knurling feels closer (still not quite as good) to a rotring, the clip has more spring, there's a pointer in the cap, and it's still got a smooth clutch. Honestly, the rotring is getting put away and I'm going back to the cheaper knockoff because that one is made properly.Super disappointed with this one. First rotring product I've ever flat out disliked.

Rotring 600 Lead Holder Drop System - 2 mm
Good prehensility in hand (has a comfortable grip). Unfortunately, this Rotring 600 model has no pressure mechanism for controlled mine guidance and has no integrated sharpener in the push button. Instead, I should have choosen the Rotring RAPID PRO Black 2mm Mechanical Pencil Model.

Funktioniert gut

Great Pencil the rOtring 600 is!
I have recently purchased the Rotring 600 2mm pencil and it is a good buy. It is similar to the Rotring 2mm 300 that is a plastic and metal version but here the metal is body replaces the plastic outer. This is then a slightly heavier pencil but not as you would notice, it is also stronger but again unless you are in the habit of trying to snap or bite your pencils this too is not that obvious. If there is a draw back then well there are several, one is that it does not have an integral lead pointer as you will find in the 300 and other than the lead the parts are not really interchangeable unless you wish to to change the 300's metal inner then you truly will get the 300 in the 600 because the the lead holder part of the 600 is mostly plastic and that is in someways a draw back but it is overall good.
