Some DIY repairs were required, but all good now! - UPDATED!
I've always thought a key safe would be nice to have in our garage, so when I came across this electronic key cabinet, I decided it was time to get one!The pros:+ Killer deal, $79.45 when I bought mine & the shipping was free!+ Nice sand color.+ Electronic keypad entry.+ High security manual override key, 2 keys are provided, in case the batteries fail.+ Two 5/8" locking bolts.+ Heavy-duty construction, 19.6 pounds!+ Has built-in hangers for 48 keys.+ Comes with lots of plastic key tags.+ Comes with 4, AA batteries.+ Wall hanging hardware is provided. The cons:- Membrane style keypad... don't like it. It feels funky & it's not designed for speedy code entry.- The provided wall hanging hardware is too light for the 19.6 pound weight of this key safe. I upgraded to heavier hardware.- The provided batteries were damaged. I upgraded to 4, AA lithium batteries.- No padding or carpeting on the bottom of the key safe for items stored there. I installed a piece of indoor/outdoor carpeting that I happen to have.- The door pull knob was mounted too high for our installation, so I had to move it under the control panel. I installed a small carriage bolt to cover the hole that was left when the knob was moved.- The bolt knob didn't feel right... felt loose to me, so I took off the plastic back cover to investigate. To my surprise, the assembly work was VERY sloppy, looked like whatever hardware was at hand was used! What's spooky, is that it could have failed, leaving the key safe locked shut with no way to open it! I ended up rebuilding the bolt assembly with the correct thickness washers (shims), adding grease to make the movement operate more smoothly.- All the screws under the plastic cover were loose. One of the 4 screws that secure the front panel to the door was stripped. :(- The audible key beeper is too loud, way too LOUD! While I was under the back cover, I put some electrical tape over the beeper. It's still loud, but not so bad now.Closing thoughts:▪ When I saw "48-key capacity", my first thought was that this was going to be too large. I was wrong, it's surprising how many keys we had stored throughout the house!▪ Don't store the manual override key in this key cabinet!Once the problems were worked out, we like this nifty key safe. Now all our keys can be stored safely in the garage & they're still easy to access. :)Updates:► June 20, 2021▪ This garage mounted key safe has been working perfectly, still on the original lithium batteries!▪ I decided to increase my product rating from 3 to 4!▪ We just modified this key safe to also secure a handgun in the wasted space, using a RYMMES Gun Magnet Mount Holder purchased here on Amazon, ASIN : B088PDY811. Pictures attached!

I thought this was a great safe until it stopped working
I thought this was a great safe until it stopped working. It is heavy duty construction and would be very difficult for anyone to break into it. It worked fine for me for the three or so years since I bought it, but then the other day the solenoid that unlocks the safe from the inside stopped working. Fortunately, I had the emergency key to open it socked away so I was able to open it and key my other keys out.I phoned MMF and got through their help line okay. Unfortunately, she informed me that their products are manufactured overseas and they cannot get parts for them. So, as it is off warranty, I am out of luck. Thanks a lot!Overall, it is a well designed and strong product with cheap components, and no service when they break. If I used it a lot, I would just write it off as wear and tear. Unfortunately, I only opened it at the most, once a week, so it certainly did not fail from overuse. I guess I will have to try to find something similar from another brand.

Lower Quality than my first one?
This is my second one of this same model. I like the design. My first one broke - the electronic keypad quit-new batteries no help. So I ordered another one. This new one is built different - not as well as the older one? More plastic inside, cheaper door pull knob, and the rotating knob that locks/unlocks feels loosey-goosey. It's mushy and doesn't exude confidence in a locks. I'm disappointed in the quality. When this one breaks, I won't order another one of this model or make.

Security comes first
Very good for keeping spare keys, especially since I changed all the locks on my house to biometric. Dead battery? Go to this locked box (mount it in a hidden place OUTSIDE) that you can access. Hide it. I put mine behind a metal Texas Star on the back side of the barn...looks natural, easy access, hidden from view.

Key jam - cabinet rendered useless
Hit or miss. Mixed feelings as I love one of them and hated the other one.I purchased two of these cabinets from this manufacturer. The cabinet comes locked so to use the it you must enter the key for the first time. After which you can insert the batteries. I opened the box, placed the key inside, turned it the correct way, and it is unable to turn back. The cabinet is now completely useless. I am just happy I didnt first drill it into the wall and get stuck unexpectedly days or months later. Let my experience be your warning to not risk anything as important as your keys in a cabinet that can break so easily.Their customer support is non-existent. Go ahead, experience this for yourself and call 1-800-323-8181 and press for "customer support". Give them a test run on if they are going to be there for you the day everything breaks. You'll be left waiting until what I assume to be the end of time. I tried to reach that striking point by leaving my phone on speakerphone and doing some errands. I managed to complete all my errands and had to recharge my battery. I tried throughout the day. I am hold still as I am writing this review (after processing my return on Amazon).I should have paid attention to an other reviewer who detailed how he had to dissemble everything to make it better. That was a red flag.On a plus size, the metal is pretty thick, which I suppose can potentially be a minus because if your keys get stuck in this thing one day you are in for quite a horrible day.Why did I give it 4 stars and not 1? Because I ordered two and the second one works. Also, there is no other option currently on Amazon for a wall key cabinet digital lock and I need one this moment so I'm stuck with having to take my chances.UPDATE: 3/24/17The product has worked well over time. However, the electronic portion of the device has malfunctioned a couple times. Simply use the backup key to reset the lock system.I actually do recommend you consider this product after having one for so long.

Was worth the investment at the time
Have had this for a little over 3 years now, opened at least twice daily. It worked great for those 3 years but now the keypad just died. Tried replacing batteries (not too easy to do) but it didn't help. The buttons don't function, except for B which will light up but there are no beeps or input. Have to use the key, which is inefficient for how many people use it daily.I would buy again except the price went up $50 so I will see what other options there are as we also need more key slots now.
