Anna in the Tropics (TCG Edition)

once a year our book club reads a play and this was the one for 2012. I just loved it. The description of how cigars were made and how the workers were entertained plus the actual plot of the play was good. It was short and enjoyable.

Beautiful story. Amazing writing. Great authentic characters. A must read.

Mr Cruz delivers a strong play with colorful characters in an unusual setting, a cigar factory Yet in the end he the reader is left wondering what message lies behind the words and the action. The play feels unresolved. It reads more like a work in progress than a finished product

I had to read this for a college project, and it ended up being an amazing audiobook

This is a most interesting book written in play form about the cigar rolling business in Miami via Cuba. A story about a 'reader' which I never knew existed in factories.

I recommend this short play. It had me going. I wish it would of been longer but it was short and interesting to read

It was a good book, sad ending tho, read the book and you'll see. I'm tired lol short story tho

偶然見つけた"Anna in the tropics"は、初めて読んだNilo Cruzの戯曲だ。彼はキューバ系アメリカ人で戯曲の舞台は葉巻工場だが、場所はキューバではなくフロリダだ。 2日ほどもあれば読み終える長さであり、重すぎず読みやすい。英語もシンプルだ。正直に言うと、簡単に読めるので物足りなさが残ったが、毎回重い小説を読むのも疲れるので、ちょっとしたデザート感覚で読む本として、あるいはリゾート地に旅行に行く際に持っていく本としてはうってつけだろう。また、文章も話の構造も非常にシンプルなので、舞台では演出家によってかなり印象が変わると思われ、機会があるなら是非舞台を見てみたいと思った。
