Small, quiet and perfect for office apps
Used this to run window 10, and it runs nicely with 8gb memory. It's an i3, so it's never going to break any speed records, and not really suitable for gaming and anything intensive, bit for office, browsing video conferencing, it's perfect. It's got a fan, bit it's really quiet, even in a living room environment. Connectivity is good onboard WiFi (dual band) , Bluetooth, ethernet, plenty of USB. I particularly liked the included plate to fix to the back of a monitor. I didn't need this , but I could so it being useful for many people.I had a cheaper mini pc, and this is so much better, It really does run stuff nicely. This is a barebones kit, so you are going to have to buy a M.2 SSD and some SODIMM DDR4 (I used HyperX Impact DDR4 HX424S14IB2/8 Memory 2400 MHz CL14 SODIMM 8 GB), I already had a M.2 drive to repurpose.

Speedy affordable and capable mini pc
Really fantastic little device. 4k HDR working without any issues. Speedy and capable device. Really quick boot time of 4 seconds to full load. Using it as a Plex and TV tuner backend server linked to my NAS for files. Bit fiddly fitting the M2 drive with the screw to keep it in place. So be sure to have a very small Philips for that bit.Really handy having the extra space for a full ssd if desired.Barely can hear the device. More than small enough to be hidden easily by placement or included mount. Really impressed.

All the computer you need
Plug in some memory (8gb is enough), Plug in an NVME m.2 SSD (the bigger the better). Install Windows or Linux and off you go. The 4k video playback is perfect. The Intel Driver and Support assistant takes care of the driver updates. It's a quiet, unobtrusive pc that uses very little power. Unless you spend every day rendering video or running the latest games then this will be fine.

Dead on arrival - Update 22/12/19
This arrived same day and I set it up this morning. When I pressed the power button there was nothing - no HDMI and no power light. A voltmeter on the PSU showed correct voltage. Removed the SSD and memory I'd put in (bought with the unit) and tried again. Nothing at all. Opened web chat with support and had the usual script. I know this is how it has to happen but takes a long time. I was then told that I had to phone Intel myself and talk to them despite me requesting a replacement and return by pickup. I consider this to be unacceptable but to avoid giving the agent a hard time I did. At least this was quick, the Intel agent said Amazon need to replace. I went back to the Amazon agent and he asked if Intel were replacing.... Eventually we got to the point where my replacement should arrive tomorrow and I have to take my current unit to a Royal Mail delivery office. To be clear - the fact that the unit was defective is not in Amazon's control - it's Intel but I've always justified the slightly higher Amazon price paid based on logistics convenience and customer care. This experience so far has not been good.1. I should not have to call Intel myself. At worst, Amazon agent should call Intel and then call me into a 3-way conf2. Amazon need to develop a returns logistics process so that the driver dropping off my replacement returns the original to the depot and then it can go onwards with Amazon to the returns centre. Seems crazy the way it is.Hopefully the replacement works. I will update after that.Disappointed with the experience.*** Updated after replacement arrived ***The replacement arrived next day - packaging wasn't great as the brown paper scrunched up in the cardboard box wasn't enough to stop the NUC sliding around inside which meant no cushioning. This is a trend I see increasing and can only assume it's driven by focus on haste...Regardless, this time plugged in and the power switch lit up so much better. Added all the memory and disks and started the install of Linux from a USB stick.Couple of IMPORTANT notes:1. The default boot is UEFI which I'm not familiar with so decided to switch to legacy boot in the BIOS2. The key to invoke BIOS at boot is F2 (instruction leaflets are a joke so be ready to Google much)3. Hitting the F2 key to enter the BIOS will only work if the USB keyboard is plugged in at the FRONT port. I spent 10 minutes mashing the key to no effect. NOTE - the keyboard works fine in the rear port but WILL NOT allow BIOS entry.... Way to go IntelOK - noted niggles aside - what's the verdict?1. NUC - Small, quiet and slick so far, no issues installing what I needed to date2. Amazon packaging, logistics and customer support - improvement required

Fantastic little PC
This is an incredibly powerful PC for the price and should suit anyone that uses their PC for home use. Setting it up is easy. The Intel NUC site tells you which RAM is compatible - make sure you choose the right kind. Building the PC literally took just a few minutes. The RAM slots in and the M2 SSD is attached with a single screw. Loading Windows 10 was also simple. Connect monitor, turn on PC - press F2 to go into BIOS - choose the option to boot from USB - plug in a USB with Windows 10 ISO downloaded from Microsoft's site - press enter - then follow on-screen instructions. Anyone can do it - don't be afraid! If loading Windows 10 you will need an activation key. It's easy to recycle one from an old laptop, for example, as long as you can find it (try looking under the battery).

Fast, quiet and tiny desktop replacement
Great little unit when paired with some good memory and an NVMe. Hooked up to my TV this little unit is fast enough for all tasks and even some light gaming, outputting at 4K.
